When I was home over Christmas break, I learned from my old boss that they had the temporary go-ahead to start clearing. However, the group against expansion appealed the decision rather quickly and I believe they had to stop. Also, my Dad learned that in their original contract, White Pass was given some flexible expand acreage; I'm really hazy on this, though. I think the burden is on the opposing group more so than WP.

My info is pretty dated, but I hope it helps.

from what i know, WP has been fighting to get this expansion over to hogsback for years now, but everytime they get close the damn seirra club acts up and starts bitching about some rare moss that grows over there, and they continually stop any development from happening. this last fall they got the go ahead so they instantly started cutting trees, and sierra club instantly got pissed and sued em again.
Apparently, this is the final request WP can make for the expansion this year so after this season its either gonna happen, or never happen. help expand into some sick territory and show your support for White pass! somehow..

Hahahah

moss

lol

nice

yah dude

this really needs to happen

we need to figfure out a way to support it.

WHos going up to WHite friday and this weekend?

Remember, in an ecosystem, many things are interconnected, and the elimination of one component can spell disaster to some or all of the others.

Maybe the moss is one of these things. Although, some environmental groups should really choose their battles, and this seems (at the surface level) to be fairly insignificant.

We have precluded that we are able to use the earth for our needs, so it makes sense to do that, but as carefully as we can, as if it is destroyed, than we will be too, eventually. Human use of natural resources seems justified, and I feel that some people take environmentalism entirely too far.
