'RESS RELEASE: WHISTLER ENFORCING NEW RULES

WHISTLLER-BLACKCOMB, BC. (AP) - Whistler-Blackcomb Mountain Resort has created new strict laws after several lawsuits resulting in a great loss for Intrawest, the owners of Whistler as well as many other major North American ski hills. 'We just can't have another lawsuit filed against us,' said one of the part owners of Intrawest, 'We want our resorts to be a safe fun environment for families to enjoy together.' The rules proposed early this February have now been put into action, just in time for the summer season. Jon Kardon, a newschool skier who was planning on attending Camp of Champions, a skiing and snowboarding camp held at the resort every summer had this to say, 'I can't believe this, I spent well over a thousand to attend the Camp of Champions, and after I heard the new rules I have gotten a refund on my camp fee, but I still lost all the money for my deposit' the owners of Intrawest said that the rules had been implemented for the safety of skiers and boarders like him, and he would still have an enjoyable experience. The new regulations include:

-No Inverted aerials at any time!

-Half-Pipe and Rails are for snowboarder use only

-Anyone caught Out of Bounds will have their pass cut and be prosecuted.

-No tricks involving backwards landings or takeoffs

-No spins over 720

Well this sucks, I was hoping on attending camp at Whistler in a few years, but after this it looks like I will be saving my money!

 
From what I heard none of that stuff applies in the camps because they are under supervision so yeas their will be jumps, rails, halfpipes, and inverts. just the public park is being affected by the changes.

 
Untrue. From what i hear from my source these rules apply to all parks on the mountain, public and private. sorry guys, im pissed too.

you know signs that say 'we are not responsable for lost or stolen items' you see everywhere? well guess what - if something gets stolen from that area and you have proof of it being stolen you can take legal action against the owners of the property...

...if someone trys to rob your house but trips on your dog who is sleeping and falls on the glass coffee table cutting his head open - he can take legal action agains your ass.

darryl that's not true in the states. if you go in to rob someone's house, trip over the dog, and cut your head on the glass coffee table, you can sue the family, the dog, the people who make the coffee table b/c it wasn't strong enough or had enough padding, then you sue the floor manufacturer and your shoe company, then sue the people who built the house b/c the house was there and you wanted to rob it.

Alright this is really BS. That press release just gave it away. You put (AP), ahaha, and then you wrote something about a' newschooler' skier.

An (AP) journalist wouldn't have writen that. It is just a joke.

 
There is one important change that has been made, one which we are fully

supportive of. The resort of Whistler/Blackcomb and Mountain Operations have

determined it be manditory that ALL campers on the glacier - skiers AND

snowboarders - that are participating in terrain-park activities, MUST wear

a helmet. This rule applies to all camps and anybody that is wanting to ski

or snowboard on the glacier, and will be strictly enforced by Mountain

authorities.

We will be looking into'bulk' purchasing helmets, which will then be made

available for purchase to campers. We will also be further loking into the

possibility of renting a large quantity of helmets from Whistler ski school.

However, if you are in possesion of a helmet, you should bring it with you

to camp. Or if you are able to purchase one, we suggest that you look into

doing so.

pretty sure that's not true...there were a dozen skiers in the pipe yesterday...the rails have been brought up....blah blah blah.

Whis/BL, like every other resort will continue to have lawsuits brought against them. In my opinion there is no need for a public park. People who are 'recreastional weekend skiers' are probably not skilled or 'park smart'enough to use the jumps properly...the 'higher level' park was awesome this year. I don't think I was cut off once by some yahoo climbing up the front of the jump or by some idiot skiing thru the landing....and I'm pretty sure the lawsuits that Whis/BL have against them probably didn't come from any injuries that were sustained in that part of the park.

Its all not true. . .i wrote an email to whistler-blackcomb, and they said people are still allowed to do inverts and all that stuff. . . so don't freak out, but they also said they might put something in to effect next fall that will not allow you to do inverts, but we'll see
