Whistler skiis

I need some advice on what to get- I'm heading out to whis for the winter, and Im going to retire my 03 xscreams. So far I'm tied up between elizabeths, prophets (100s) and scratch BC. Im 5 10, about 15-ish pounds, and east-coast raised. So I need something that rips in powder but that I can manage, since I've never skiied anything more powdery than tremblant

and if the lines are the best bet, have they finally got their shit together? Everybody I know who bought them the last few years had them delam and then take about 6 months for the warranty to come through..

oh yeah, the breakdown: 10% groomers, 10% park, 70%GLADES GLADES GLADES and about 1-% moguls, when I get bored. BUt I want to get into backcountry as heavily as possible.
 
Get the Rossis...Lighter than most of the others. The Prophet is STIFF but a sweet ski as well. Its just lines durability that worries me.
 
yeah the BC is your best bet out of those if you are 150ish pounds which is ehat I suspect you meant to type. The 100's are the best ski you mentioned but are probably too much for you. The Elizabeths are oversold and won't be in any stores near you.
 
hahahaha yeah, I meant 150. ^when you say I couldnt handle the 100s do you mean weight-wise or because I'm new to the backcountry? If the latter Im probably not going to afford another pair of skiis for about two years so Im prepared to take some lumps learning to handle 'em.

one more questions: I've heard good things about 4frnt, but there site fucks up on my computer. Do they have any skiis similair to the ones im interested in? (similair and BETTER?!)
 
id still say the BC out of the original 3. But for 4frnt u can go with the MSPs to basically do it all like the BCs...or the VCTs which are supposed to be more BC but, apparently, can hold its own all over as well. 4frnts are all very light too.
 
So do you want a ski for Whistler or for the backcountry? You've said both in this thread, it would help if you would clarify.

Im not interested in a carving/park ski, i want something that rips in powder but lets is light enough for me to jump it around in the glades. Is there a big difference between the type of ski youd need for coastal BC backcountry pow/ say for example blackcomb glacier or 7th heaven? like I say im an east coast skier so I really dont know.

Bump, cause I'm in the same situation. I'm 6'1 160lbs. Need a one quiver ski that can do it all in Whistler and the surrounding BC, or at least as well as one ski can. Suggestions?
 
whistler is not a one ski mountain. I lived there.

but if you are going to do one ski I would go with the prophet 100s. Stiffer skis are better at Whistler because you need to be able to blow through shit when it gets tracked. When you ski whistler you generally ski fast, so stiffer is better. Whistler aint no cruiser hill. Hell, you even need a sturdy ski to ride the fucking groomers after a day or so. 100 in the waist will still work for park and will be good in tracked and pow pow.

I would go with the 186 and mount it a little bit forward. Go with the longer lengtth because you are talll enough and you will lose ose when you mount it forward. This is where the one ski thing becomes a problem. Whistler has gnar terrain. If you are skiing BC you want it mounted backish so that you have plenty of nose for fast skiing, and because you generally need to ski properly there. mounted back, the ski won't be very good in the park. Do not go centermounted, just a little back and it will be very versatile.

Why not get prophets, mount them a little more specific for pow, and then find some cheap ass shitty park skis that are a dime a dozen anywhere in whistler? 1 ski quivers are overrated.
 
get the BC or prophet...the prophet would be more of a chargin ski with a stiffer flex and being heavier which would be great if u plan to spend most of ur time on the ground

if u want a bit more verstile ski then the BC would prob be ur ski its softer then the prophet but still has a medium flex and is lighter which will help if u plan to be in the air more often
 
Dam, I totally forgot I still have some 02 171cm 1080s that will work for a park/rail/beater ski. So now that we're looking at a 2 ski quiver, go with prophets for steeps/pow/crud?
 
how would seths compare to the prophets? I'm prob gonna try and get 07s on ebay to save some $$. So the seths wouldn't have the wield camber the 08s have.
 
I'd go with prophets. Seths are very soft. Nothing wrong with the 08's camber, that should only help in skiing pow. But if you want a true all mtn, haul ass ski, you would probably want something stiffer to bomb on.
