WHISTLER SCAM WARNING

A number of cases have been reported of an alleged scam in whistler, and hundreds of dollars have been lost already. The scammer on Craigslist poses to be a pastor either on a mission to Africa or already in Africa and asks you to look after the house, or the wife of a pastor in Africa and in any variation of the story asks you to wire the money to him. Yes. To Africa.
The posting itself looks legit, fully furnished, satelite tv, etc. etc. but once you wire the money to him you won't ever hear from he (or she) every again. So just keep a lookout for offers that are too good to be true, sadly in the world we live in today a very good deal usually ends up being false or a scam.Especially at this time when everyone's looking for accommodation in whistler people might not think twice so just BE AWARE PEOPLE.

just curious but why'd my other thread in NSG get deleted?I know its a pretty local problem but who knows some potential victims might not check out regionals

Yeah this isnt a localised problem,

I was looking for acco modation for Banff and a pastor apparntly needed someone to look after her house with a "gaurantee" that she would pay the money back if I didnt like the house. They tried to get me to fill out some forms with my bank account details and SIN number, but i told them to fuck offf...

Honestly you would have to be pretty niave to pay money without even seeing someone or appropiate documents.
