Whistler opens November 24th

im calling early opening, due to the face that there is already quite bit of snow at the top and its suppose to keep coming. So, yea, IM FUCKIN STOKED!!

you couldnt see the top today but im sure it was snowing up there, as it probably is now, really wont be surprised to see it open earlier than that

brighton opens november 10th? park city opens november 17th? Alot of other resorts open before thanksgiving too...

they always have...

theyll open early. only under fucking extreme circumstances of bareness (3 seasons ago) do they stick to forecasted opening. im calling thursday the 17th

Im going to guess that it will open by the 10th of Nov. There is a 2 week period either side of the 24th that they can open. Looking at the snow on the mountain today Im thinking it will be early.

Well im going skiing thursday, so skiing is quite close...

But Baker usually opens before thanksgiving sometimes even a week or two earlier...

ha you arrogent fuck what makes Whistler so much better? ive skied there a few times and i don't understand

This is what makes whistler so special: Overcrowded lift lines, to many rich people in the village, to expensive, did i say lift lines?

Ya there is incredible terrain but i can get that for half the price and not have to worry about hundreds of people taking all my pow.

In conclusion eheath i agree.

Man i know. Iv been there a bunch, and its an amazing place. But i would rather spend winters else where...

i live 30 mins fron some of the best skiing in north america and 7 world class resorts that all open before whister

plus how much of whistler will even be open the 24th? maybe 50%? which will mostly be grommers/intermediate terrain?

Sure there is good stuff, but you cannot compare the scale of the terrain in the Whistler/Pemberton area to say the LCC backcountry, it's not even close.

Yes, yes you can compare. You realize that SLC area and surrounding backcountry is equally good or even better than whistler..

lol, kid makes thread about being stoked about Whistler opening soon and people come on to bash whistler, ill be arriving on the 26th for the second season in a row, so fucking keen to shred the the biggest resort in north america again!! and if you had spent a season working in whis you would know why there is so much hype

hahahah orly? a-bay opens in four days. guess it sucks to be in whistler.

last year on whistler the max snow accumulation was over 50 ft, what slc resort beat that?

for arguments on quality see the best powder thread, personally i think 10% (whistler) seems good, thick enough that you wont plow into a boulder off a drop and fluffy enough be able to fly through it.

light is only good to a point. In the northern interior, snow blows right off the ground till its bare and all of the snow is stuck in the first 30ft of trees.

fo opening week end ? not really. blackcomb is closed, and the mountain is filled with posers in 3K $ worth of gear. just wait a couple weeks til blackcomb is open :)
