not to be a huge downer but check out the freezing levels, 1400M means that the current accessible terrain will be having maybe -1 snow which will be really heavy in this amount and even possible rain which will turn everything into liquid cement. But the freezing level is supposed to go back down late friday so by sunday it should be legit for sure.

Yeah I did see that, However it says that the freezing level was supposed to climb to 1400 by the afternoon and it's still cold. 1400 meters is just a little above the base of the red chair, so while it might get a little heavy it should still be snowing a ton around the roundhouse, not to mention the crazy snow they will be getting around peak / harmony.

yea but the peak and harmony will only be open dependent on the avi conditions and with this different snowpack level coming in it has me worried. But i hope for the best and if they temp holds for the night im def heading up tomo.

Hate to break it to you guys.....but its still November, gotta keep in mind snowpack stability especially for the backcountry, those freezing levels arnt exactly a bad thing, just as long as they stay sub 1500m or so.

On a side note, this snow is friggin EPIC! I cant wait to ski terrain that I would normally have to wait until after december to ski.

yeah i'm just going to enjoy whatever we get. being from ontario, these are the most epic conditions ive ever ridden in... and its november... we should all be so fucking stoked/thankful

Anyone have pics to drool over? I saw the one in the NS mailout and my jaw dropped... I could have been up there if I'd only skipped 2 days of classes and one test...

Those pictures are beautiful... Beyond jealous. Haha didn't even think to look on the whistler site, just turned to NS right away.

now now lets not be hard on the kid.. but when its this deep skiing park isnt what 99.999% of skiers are doing. enjoy the powder while u casn cause when ur skatig on ice in the future you'll miss it

Got home a few hours ago exhausted but so content with my day. Saw a few NS stickers floating around, but didn't get the chance to say hello.

Spent the better part of the morning exploring some trees and then took a hike up towards harmony in the early afternoon. I'll be back next weekend without a doubt.

YEAAAAAAAH WOOOO so stoked hahahaha. Sorry to ruin this thrad I'm a little drunk. I had to sconsole my self for not being able to go up this weekedn. It's times like this when I feel glad I live in BC. Wow.

ya totally agree its my first season out here and its soo sick.
and buddy if you want to hear what the park has is a down box that is in a 2ft trench

Extended forecast for Whistler - Blackcomb.

Wednesday..Rain.

Rainfall amounts 30 to 40 cm.

Freezing level 2000 metres lowering to 1600 metres.

I read that in the forecast for the week.. I want to cry.

Me too. Especially since I didn't get to experience the epic november snow yet... No matter it'll be rad anyways.

Gonna throw this out there now so people can get back to me..

Me and Kevski are making the trek out from UVic to Whistler this weekend coming up. We'll be looking for a ride up Friday night or early Saturday morning most likely from North Vancouver. Gas money will be provided as well as striking conversation.

I finally get through h1n1 and enough work to be able to spare a day to head up this week, and it's going to fucking piss rain. Not okay.

Fuck, talk about getting the short end of the stick. Sorry to hear that JD.

++vibes++

Before you know it, we will be getting insane pow again. It's still not even december =D

I might be able to help you out. I will be going up early Saturday morning from North Van, I just have to find out how much space there will be in my car. If I've got enough, you're more than welcome to come.

Anyone know how this weekend works? Do the yanks have friday off or is it sat-sun-mon? I'm worried it's basically going to just be a writeoff.

It'll be busy no doubt about that.

However, after the huge ass lines for everything the last two weekends It's not that big a deal. Once both mountains are open and the remaining chairs open too the lines should be much more spread out.

It's the winter of the 2010 olympics, time to get used to crowds anyways. If the conditions suck like I think they will, maybe less locals will bother to go up and the crowds will be less.
