Hey, Myself and two of my friends plan on travelling out to whistler from July 9th, to the 16th and we will do anything to avoid paying steep hotel prices. If anyone out there would be willing to bring the 3 of us into there homes for a week it would be MUCH appreciated!

if this doesnt work, does anyone know of any other cheap alternatives that we could do for a place to stay?

thanks a lot!

camping. I've been searching around for options for me and some friends as well, and apart for hotels, camping out is the only other option I've gotten.

easy. stay at the shoestring lodge its cheap and pretty close to the village. its a hostel or you can get private rooms too. they're renovating sometime but i think it's still open.

You can camp, and put all of your stuff in your car, but you would probably have to take down your tent every day to avoid people stealing it.

the fireside lodge. same price as the shoestring but you wont get herpes. most pipmed out hostel ive ever been too. its only $28 a night during the winter. its probably liek $20 in the summer. can get dorm rooms for 4 people. they have lockers, ski lockers, boot dryers, saunas that are good for fornication, and the occasional hot swedish house maid

hahaha I gotta say that was somewhat contradictory, "you won't get herpes" and "a sauna that is good for fornication"... Where is this fireside lodge anyways, is it in the upper village as well or further out???

I would also live in staff. I've done that twice now, albeit, it was for more than a week. Now I can't remeber for sure, but it may be that the min you can stay in staff is for 2 weeks, and then you pay on a week by week basis. It may be that the minimum is only a week, so look into that. Last summer rooms (shared, and shittiest ones) were like 325 a mo or so. Maybe 10-12 a night (Cdn). In the summer or even spring, a lot of the actual employees have moved back to wherever there from. So Australia, Onterrible and Quebec. Thus, they might as well have people in there paying rent. Therefore, it is open for everyone. Parking is like 40 a mo or so. It is probably a 10 min walk down the hill to whatever the chair that starts your journey up the mountain is called. Find more info under the website and give a call before hand, just to make sure there is availability.

Plus, if that doesnt work. There are more than just the Shoestring and the other one mentioned for hostels. Last I remember there was/is like 7 others.

wait, so you can live in the employee housing even if you're not employeed up there? If so, I will look into that immediatly.

oh man... 10 a night or so... jebas. I just e-mailed them about it. this may be a huge thing for me. I could actually make this work if this housing works.

is it half decent housing? not that I care to much, but one of the friends I'm traveling with was complaining about not having a TV in the room.

just don't stay in 106 glacier house (house 6) it is reserved for camps i think in the summer... sucks to be the person who got that room

yeah its cheap, and no on hte mos tpart staff isa shithole, you don't get a tv, but you get a kitched, and a washroom, and bunkbeds...don't complain its cheap...and worth it

'Keep on rocking in the free world'

It is for real. The rooms and accomadation vary in "luxury." The cheapest rooms are 4 person 2 to a room, with a bunk bed, a small living room, bathroom and kitchen. T.Vs are not supplied, but you'll find that most rooms have them, simply because that stuff just floats around and people that bought them in the fall don't want to bother bringing them home. Otherwise, it is pretty easy to find cheap stuff like that.

I have stayed in building 6 (Icemantle) both times. As far as I remember that is the one that never gets camps, but that can also change year by year I suppose. If possible try not to stay in that one. Either way, it is a fun time.

oh yeah thats what its called, regardless, 106 is one of the worst rooms of all of staff... ica n post pictures if yuo want.

I might have even stayed in that exact one. Maybe it was 104 or 206, but it was close to there.
