ye, so basically i'm moving out west for a season. Whats the partying like, clubs and shit etc. Apparently there is a train or summin which rolls from downtown van to whistler. anyone know how long it takes. thanks.
 
what from i saw, most of the locals dont even party that often. most of the partying is done by tourists. you bascially work and then you ski or you ski and then you work and then you chill. but thats what i saw when i was there i could be wrong...
 
ha yep, its so fucking expensive to live there(only getting more expensive by the year), if you wanna ski alot, then you're working everynight.
 
cooool, sounds pretty shitty. what resorts would you recommend for a good atmosphere. tremblants an option but apprently its nothin like whistler.
 
prepare yourself for the best skiing season ever i moved to whistler this year worked in the whistler terrain parc had a house with my friend but yah if you want to get a house you should move to whist beforer october cause its really hard to rent something after that you look in the peak new magazin for house our appartments you'll find jobs easy thats probably the easyest thing to find jobs try to find a volly job for your free season pass and ya its pretty much chilling over there theres the long horn buffulo bills and savage beagle pretty much the most crowded bar on there nights so ya if you want information about whistler pm me
 
thats what im thinkin, like yeh i wanna snowboard but i want to party at the same time and from what these peeps are saying its not too good.
 
its really great peaple in whistler party on every occasion they get but it cost money to live in whist the best thing to do is to comme to whistler with atleast 2000$ in bank so you safe because you wont get your first pay for like 2 weeks and in the mean time if you find your place and everything you'll need money to pay for rent and damage deposit

you guys are so gay.. its fucking whistler how can it be bad?? i moved here in october. All that I do is Ski, Work, and party. yes, what a fucking terrible lifestyle.. the party scene here is pretty good so i dont know what the fuck you guys are talking about. if your not 19 and dont have an ID then you wont have a good time
 
i dont understand you guys could hate on it so much. you must be from around here then. when your from somewhere flat like me, its dope and thats why people move there to ski some stuff that they would never have the opportunity at home!

partying and rent? ya its tough, obviously, but you can still party and have a good time for sure, just be prepared to spend money thats all, thats the trade off, and if you shred during the week, lines arent too bad

You wont get a reasonable response from this board because its full of pretend locals that act the Whistler locale response-' I hate Aussies, Frenchies. Tourists, anyone at the Longhorn, anyone in the village on Aussie Day, anyone in the village on St Pattys day, anyone who is a little bit drunk in the village on their local holiday....yeah you get the point.

Whistler is a great place. It is a TOURIST resort so be prepared for that factor, but it is a great place to ski, party and live. I LOVE WHISTLER.
 
If your ID looks real, then you shouldn't have any problems, but Whistler is definitely not particularly relaxed with ID and liquor laws.
 
Let me add to this:

Pemberton = ideal place if your sick of having 9 roomates + cheaper rent + bigger house + garage + Back and front yards + Unreal sledding terrain right out of your garage + all the cool people that used to make whistler kick ass live here now.
 
i managed to save money, live in nice places, have my own room, and

ski well over 100 days a year. it's not too bad of a place.

hell the only bad thing is that the pow gets tracked by 8:30. you can get lots if you hike and race, but i kind of like the relaxed mellow aspect of pow.

Age, the thing you got wrong is most people love the frenchies because they are happy and funny. Everyone hates the aussies, hell even the aussies in Kicking Horse hate the aussies in whistler. and its not like you can't win someone over by being a cool aussie, you just have to start at a lower place on the totem pole, because a bunch of retards created a huge generalization, unfortunately.

oh, and surrey people. everyone hates them. watch out at the clubs on long weekends. give away: tight jeans, button up shirts, spikey hair, probably east indian, and popped collars, oooh, possibly a gun in their pants.
 
Yeah thats a good point about the Aussies. I mean Im aussie and even I hate some of (well most of) the aussies that come out here. The cool ones are the ones that stay here for more than 1 season and dont work as a lifty/busser/rental tech.
 
So how are the weekdays at whistler as far as the crowd goes? Can you find freshies all day on a powder day or does it get skied up real fast?
 
its my opinion. and i wouldnt go to a world class resort to ski trees. i go there to ski chutes and big bowls. tree skiing is mellow and alright, but i would rather turn when i want to
 
I know most of you guys love your whislter, and I haven't been up there that many times. But honestly I'm normally disapointed with it.

Like really, its got sooo much hype and the tickets are 83 bucks and the lines have been pretty big everytime I've been.

And the terrain is great but it gets skied out soooo quick, and compared to the rockies and the interior whistler's quality of snow isn't that great.

But on the other hand its massive and maybe I'm skiing in the wrong spots. And the park is better than any other hill I've been to and its a super fun place to be in.

 
^ you are definitely just riding the wrong spots. you paying 83 a ticket is an indication of your newbness, you should atleast have an express card or something. sure everything in sight gets tracked quick, but those lines beyond the easy eye or access can remain untouched for quite a while. try exploring, usually you don't need to pack a rope, but it may come in handy depending on you and the conditions
 
yah I'm def a newb to whistler. and I don't pay 83, but the fact that they can sell lift tickets at such a price makes me sick.

I'll give it a few more tries at least before make my final verdict.
 
after spending a considerable time in kicking horse. fuck interior powder hype. On a good day in whistler the snow is way better than the interior. because if its -10 the snow will be light regardless, and in whislter, there is twice as much of it, its bottomless, its bonded to the steep rocky faces, it won't slide on you, and there aren't rocks around every corner.

granted no one hikes here, so I'm getting entire lines fresh, with a foot of pow, on the backside of an open ridge, with 20 minute hiking laps, oh ya, a week after it has snowed.
 
well, I was doing the same thing this weekend in whistler, no snow for a week and untouched fresh lines (open bowl or trees) except the were lift accessed

and whistler still gets ripper avy's, watch yo neck
