Whistler lifestyle

james i think i need to ski with you more. i know about off the tbars, but thats it.

I know there are avys in whis. you always here about the stable snowpack out there, but its amazing how bad the snow bonds in the interior/rockies

What kinda prices should be expected? Rent, beer, food, etc??? I'm so sick of school right now, I am planning on taking next year off and movin somewhere to ski. Being 19, whistler is more appealing than anywhere in the states, but if it gets skied quick and is super expensive...... Local opinions are appreciated.

that is a week and a half after any snowfall more than 3 cm. the wind blows stuff in constantly but in that time period there have been maybe 10 tracks through. If you can show me this in whis, james, I will move back next year. granted, theres rocks under half the drops because they have a 190cm base, but i guess theres a trade off

well, you were saying you had to hike to get to that ridge, so i see little that differentiates it from the spearhead, decker, disease, trorey, phalanx, patterson, oboe, cowboy, etc. having some skins in whistler gets you out to the goods real quick. if you are willing to hike, why bother going to a lift mountain, why not just go up to the duffy or cyrus or garibaldi or diamond or something?

as far as lift accessed fresh, there is no reason for me to jeopardize my stash spots (its taken me a decade to learn what i know), but this year's snowpack has been amazing.

thats why its called mini ridge :)

15 minute laps, 15 minute initial hike

to the lookers right are cutes with twice the vertical, way bigger drops, and 45+ degree slopes.

I'm not neccesary saying its way better out here, its just way easier to ski fresh pow. and these slopes are way closer than most anything you listed. I think the part I like best about it is you hike a little bit to get to the top, scope your next line, and your back at the top in 15. no ski out, you don't have to go back to that stupid gondola here. Convenient. no skins either, I would rather hike so I don't have to carry them.

Although there is more space to play around and less people ,even the slackcountry gets quite tracked within a day or two when the conditions are good.

Just set your priorities. Whistler has a fun village with fun people, good terrain and snow, but lots of people... If pow is your priority, then try a place like Kicking Horse, where you will find fresh days after a storm as opposed to 2 hours. In that case, you will most likely sacrifice some of the partying... Every place has advantages and inconvenients, but Whistler seems to be a happy medium between everything. So don't go there.

i wouldnt say the pow is the best here. its not bottomless and it doesnt snow like crazy. the peak this year was 250 cm. but yes, more than two weeks after the last dump that was more than 5 cm, I can ski that whole ridge fresh. kinda weird. you cant huck shit here. it has to be calculated and scoped. so many rocks.

the parties aren't as hollywood and there is no pussy, but fuck people party, everyday, all day. if anyone is here monday, come to 9th street. 10am to 3am. house party. booyah
