Whistler Glacier Troubles

first of all no one needs to worry shitness about global warming, it is way to gradual to affect skiing. like last year...Tahoe got below averages amounts of snow, and everyone was all like 'O SHIT GLOBAL WARMING!!!'...but this year we had tons of snow wich messured above average. ppl just use it as an excuse for a shitty snow year. they just happen ok. no two winters are the same

there's good years and bad years. once we had to hike the top part of the tbar to get back to 7th heaven. but sometimes you can ski out. just depends on the snowfall and temp. dont worry about it.

 
david suzuki the famed environmentalist said in a conference in whistler that in 20-30 years, rising freezing levels will close up to 25% of the worlds ski hills...blackcomb and whistler wont even make it to the olympics in 2010...

fuck you guys, im skiing this summer and learning a bunch of new shit, whether the jumps are minus 10 feet or whatever. you guys are all bitching but who cares, i still get to ski in the summer and im still going to make the most of it

 
hey tahoe, we just had the earliest warmest spring in history in tahoe; the snowpack is lower at this point than any year since the drought in the late 80s . . . yes there are variations year by year, but global warming is not gradual and we are seeing it right now; how long can people continue to keep their willfully ignorant blinders on? I hope you like rain, cause tahoe's gonna be seeing a lot more of it in the coming years

yeah, the problem is snowpack. the glacier relies on snowpack for its features (obviously), and right now there is already glacier ice showing through in several spots. Its bad news bears for the camps.

It sucks when all we need to do is use some renewable type of resource. Just cut emissions by half and it would be all good. I really doubt OPEC would be with that or the political system itself. I love skiing, I just hope snow will be around for me and future generations.

i say next year they close the horseman glacier region during the winter adn make all the cats accumulate snow, stealing it from the rest of the hill. but the 400 cats piling up snow would add up to the climat changin' and melt it all. :(

 
well, they were hauling the rails off of whistler and over to blackcomb yesterday, so taht is a bonus, we know that they are getting things ready on the glacier.

one of the biggest threats to the glacier is the hundreds of pounds of salt the camps throw on it each summer. it is slowly changing the composition of the glacier. as the salt reaches the ice pack of the glacier, it is pushed down to the bottom and to the lowest levels forming the base of the glacier. it makes it quite difficult to have a gliacer expand under such conditions.

i could go on, but for most, it would just fly over heads.

let me say this: the earth goes through cycles and shit changes. Well this yr in oregon fer ski areas seems like a normal yr nothin real changed were supposed to get snow tommorow and bach got 8 inch of new they day b4 they closed. u guys can use conspiothy (sp?) theories er whatever but sum yrs are good sum years suck. And if one yr sucks and you lose sum of the glacier it takes a few yrs for snow to build back up.

I refuse to believe any of your slander or your crap talk. Whistler is going to be better this year than it ever has. The snow is epic and will be over 1000000 feet deep. Summer camp is going to rock. (i just mailed in my $1,500 check for HN. I need to keep my self convince.)
