regionals... i know... i posted in the van/whis forum a week and a half ago and got 1 response.

im trying to go up to whistler for a few days on my spring break in 2 weeks and i'm hoping someone would be able to point me in the direction of any good spots to car camp. A place within walking distance to the village would be rad but not essential.

Yeah, but you can't get caught sleeping or you'll get a 50 dollar ticket. As long as you get up at seven and leave until 9 you should be fine

The dirt parking lots are your friends, I've never had issues in the Whistler lots overnight. I think it's fine as long as you don't draw too much attention. Goodluck and enjoy!

look for a bear cave, befriend them, and if they trust you, they will let you park your car in their cave in exchange for penutbutter sandwiches.

bump, anyone know if the blackcomb dirt lots still go for car camping? how agro has enforcement been lately

i see people camping in the blackcomb creekside lot, pain in the ass because plowing around single cars sucks but it happens.

kind of spaced and didnt realize that dirt lots were below snowline yet still super far from village so i bailed on that idea. decided to try my luck and parked in the far back corner of a paid lot (think it was 2) which was chill the first night but then caught a $100 ticket for camping the next night. doubt i'll be back but if i do i'll def park outside the muni

You might be even more surprised to hear that they were right by the village. But sorry to say they have been paved and are now a pay lot. Car camping is much harder than it used to be 8 years ago.

Sorry to hear about the ticket, but if you're not from the area you probably could get away without paying it.

yeah was talking about the lots up by excalibur mid which are still dirt IIRC. obviously not the move when lower mountain is closed or if you plan on stumbling back to your car late at night

probably won't pay the ticket. will likely have new car/plates by the time i go back up anyway. still a bummer that they were enforcing heavy that early in the season
