Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Safety stealing a guys snowboard

Whistler Mountain safety patrol have some power trippers in upper management

In 2011, Ski'd out of whistler park a bit early through the tree's and rode out the last 100 feet or so of run underneath the chair. I was waiting at the bottom of the lift line for my buddies to show up but after a few minutes figured I missed them, started skiing around the lift line to head down the mountain.

In the middle of the lift line (where the two sides meet) a safety patroller stops me as I was skating around. He proceeded to tell me I ripped through a slow zone. After I apologized, I told him it was my first few days on whistler and I had cut out of the trees and not seen a sign. Was immediately told I was lying about how I didn't know it was a slow zone. He then couldn't tell me which side of the run I rode down (I had been waiting at the bottom for a while, I thought he had mistaken me for someone else). After a few more remarks about my baggy clothes and "attitude" ( I tried explaining how I had checked uphill after coming out of the tree's and had not been near anyone, again very politely). I realized this wasn't getting anywhere and made the choice to just ski home. I told him I was leaving and started skating away. After two pushes he grabbed my wrist and instinctually I whipped my arm away. At this point I'm sliding away and see another ski patroller coming to cut me off. I stop and wait for him to reach me. This DICKWAD, fucking flies at me two fists out, pushes me to the ground and pins me yelling "YOU THINK YOU CAN PUNCH AN OLD MAN AND GET AWAY WITH IT YOU FUCK"

at this point the situation has escalated beyond my control. I called the police to report that I had been tackled. they informed me that I was "fleeing on private property, and as such it was not assault and they were completely in the clear".

Later I formed a deal with Mr.Annand (the first safety patroller who stopped me) and Mr.Pond to get my pass back, I had too write letters to the editor of the 2 whistler magazines explaining how I fucked up (none of the letters passed the approval of either as they wanted me to put in writing that I assaulted a safety patroller). I had to go through 4 volunteer safety patrol days where I spent sometimes 8 hours digging out snow around lift towers. They took my returned pass back two days after this agreement because I had not been quick enough to email them their personal apology letters.

Long story short I got my pass back two weeks into April once I finally was able to get ahold of their supervisor in administration. and even then the fuckhead thought the situation was laughable that I got tackled.

FUCK you Gordan Annand, you're a donkey dick. I hope Karma was a bitch.

I hear stories of this all the time. Mad power trippers safety are...

Regardless of context, without being official police I don't believe they can confiscate personal property legally. They could make someone leave the premesis, but they can't take your property afaik.

I bet JD would know for sure though.

It's a bit of a weird one really. Where he is on the mountain they can ask him to download if they want him off the mountain. they would have taken the board to ensure he downloads an does not try to ride out. They would have let him keep site of the board at all times and it would be given straight back at the bottom. It's just used as a way to ensure people leave the mountain and also get talked to at the bottom about there actions.

I could understand people getting very upsett if equipment was taken away out of eye sight and not returned for a day or two. But I really think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion.

The worst thing in this video by far is the terrible accents of the filmer and his friend.

if we kill all the australians does that mean that we don't need mountain safety anymore? i mean it wouldn't really be all that inhumane, they'd all be way to methed out to know what was happening.
