Whistler/Blackcomb Gondola

I am planning a February vacation trip to Whistler/Blackcomb. I'm just wondering if anyone else thinks they might crap them selfs on the new gondola that goes in between the two peaks.

Idk if i will even go on it. Its so long and so high in the air. Also How Magnificent are the parks here cause ill probably spend a couple days exploring and a the rest in the park. Talk NS

 
its a vacation week and im sure the park will be fine...and im not going on Christmas week off because i want to be home for Christmas and ill ski my mountain that week
 
dude. not what i mean. why would you go to whis to ski park? its dumb unless its for like a comp or you live their or sumtin. why not ride pow?
 
I still ride pow every chance I get on my TM's, they don't ride as well as a fatter ski, but they still go.
 
why cant you ride pow with your park skis? it may be a little harder but why let a slimmer ski stop you from slaying POW!?
 
my b than but not to interested in getting stuck in powder too often and going slow just isnt fun for me i like speed... i will ski powder while im there but just more park im not to into powder... in the east there isnt a lot of places that have 2 feet of powder to ski through unless its a huge snowstorm and thats the only day you get the snow
 
word i know im from the east. i went out to CO last two winters and i didnt think id have that much fun riding pow pow cuz i ride alot of park but man did i have fun. give it a shot
 
yeah i think it will be fun but its a short experience and i like park a lot so... tuffy on which one i will ski more while im there but im still gonna crap my pants on that gondola
 
If you to whistler in February and ride the gondola that goes between the peaks you will not shit your pants. There is only one car and it sits on the ground. You're going to be a couple months early.
 
Funny, I actually had a fucked up dream about that gondola last night, but yeah its a giant eyesore. I can see it from my house. :(
 
Dude, my first year of skiing I had 67mm underfoot used racing skis. I had fun in powder, you will too. Have fun in whistler, if I could chose a resort to go to that I haven't been to (all but one), it would be whistler or laax.
 
Powder > all

Ski it with whatever you've got, or demo/rent some fatties while you re there.
 
are you kidding me? Whistler has some of the best lines and most fun areas anywhere. I much prefer it over Blackcomb.

it was super hard, but im form MN and i was gonna ride it no matter what

go ski the pow you wont regret it!!!!
 
I am from the east, there is only park and groomers over here. Try riding powder when you are out there, you wont regret it. I go out west once a year and all I want to do out there is ride pow. So much better than park, unless your a park rat that is.
 
yeah pow is so much better than park especially if your from the midwest where real skiing let alone powder doesnt exist
 
rent some pow skis u retard....im from the east to and i ski vt almost every weekend and pow is so fun u can do so much cuase its so soft and its just so fun u should do it to....i was at wistler over the summer and blackomb looked knarly u should hike that shit
 
Dude when are you going? I just booked a trip to whistler for february 14th-18th. I've never been off the east coast, so i am prepared to shit my pants when i get there. And btw, peak to peak gondola isn't going to be open until next season anyway
 
yeah. for the beginning of the 2008/2009 season.

And it's a complete waste. Nobody needs to switch hills halfway through the day. You choose to rid whis one day, and b-comb the other day. They're big enough that you don't need to ride both in the same day.
 
Blackcomb is ze best! Whistler has some gnar shit too but you just have to gain some more elevation and search for it a little more.
 
dude, you don't need fat skis to ride pow, hell, last year I had scratch pros and ripped any pow I could find with them, and there like a 70mm waist
 
its pretty dope how they are moving the chairs for it. Catskinner is going to let you off way lower now.. which will be done by this season, but the new gondy won't be done until December 2008. Apparently one of the cars is going to have a glass floor too, but this might just be a rumor.
 
well the gondola wont be finished until December 2008, at least, so you can save the crapping of your pants until then, and then i will feel bad for the people who are on the lift with you.
 
Donno. I like the Harmony Bowl a lot, that is if I'm not looking for steeps and just what to make fatty turns. Though anything off Spanky's Ladder is strait legit. You can find good trees on both peaks.
 
I hope the cost is included in the original ticket price. Otherwise, it'd cost a bomb just to ride the thing.

Whistler prices are insane.
 
they're taking about 5 towers out of it so you'll be able to get off just above the park. it's gonna be sick and make lapping the black park much faster. whooop
 
I believe 2 of them are going to have glass floors.

And they have finished moving both drive terminals for solar and catskinner. They essentially drop you off at the exact same point now, right at the clocktower lightboard. So you probably save an extra 30-60 seconds on your catskinner laps now.
