Whirling Dervish- longboarding.

now if all the people i see long boarding did it because they wanted to have as much fun as those guys instead of being trendy i'd be stoked on longboarding

word.. Fuck, here at UVic its rediculous. Its the new hand bag.. everyone is carry around a longboard.. Which, is exactly why I hate on it.

And that sucks! because it's actually really cool and really fun... but like, these people are doing it wrong

Who cares about the people who longboard to look cool, they're still longboarding. They might inspire someone to start up longboarding and that person may have a genuine passion for it.

I'd say I'm in the passion boat. I have 5+ boards and make/sell them too.

Also, it scares me how ambidextrous and co-ordinated those guys are... they make me feel dextrously -ordinated. I suck and longboarding switch.

because you can totaly tell when someones just trying to be trendy. your a cockfaggot, your just as bad as those people trying to be trendy by trying to not be trendy and refusing to. ur just being bitched around by your public image which is exactly whats happening to them. grow some. longboardings sick who cares as long as others are out having a good time

truth. who cares why they are doing it? longboarding is a sport that is slowly emerging and becoming pretty big on campuses everywhere. the more people that do it, the better. and yeah, some people may do it to be trendy, but fuck, maybe they will find they really do enjoy it.

oh and the loaded boards are dope. i ride one and the carve system they have developed is super tight. right now i'm riding the fish, but im gonna be getting the vanguard flex 3 in like two weeks, or whenever i have the money. soooo stoked about it.

i just upgraded from a 36 inch board to a 55 inch sector 9 luke nosewalker. thing hauls ass down hills, and never gets speed wobble

i literaly just started, i didnt know it was a trend, becasue in massachusetts it really isnt, there are only maybe two people that do it in my school and i wanted to start with my friend

I ride a Kracked Skulls M1 that is designed very similar to the dervish (drop throgh) and I fucking love it. Monster carver.

If you dig that video, check out the others ones by the two adams (youtube id: whoisadam), they make sick edits and are stylish as hell

Same here. I actually haven't seen anyone on a longboard. I started because I wanted a nice off season sport to do. And I'm certainly falling in love. Though I don't mind going alone, it would be nice to have someone to ride with.

just got a landyachtz dropdown evo with randall 180's and gumballz and im absolutly in love it...not so much of a board to do that stuff on but still amazingly fun to bomb hills and just carve.

Longboarding is my new passion. I ride every day, with music it's just soooo chill, relaxing and cool. And when you're riding on smooth streets, kinda fast with no cars or anything, it's incredibly close to heaven.

Hey I wanted to start longboarding, I searchbarred to avoid making a new thread (aren't you happy?) I was just wondering what specs should I get as a noob? Is this a good board for a beginner? Is there anything bad about this board?

anytime I'm having a bad day I just watch that video and it fuckin inspires the shit outta me, after I'm done cleaning up the poop I grab my board and head out for a skate with my buddies. We skate in boston so the traffic kinda hinders out routes but we found a 4 story parking garage thats nice and smooth and looks out on the city and we just skate around. We started calling it soul skating as a joke but honestly when you get comfotable on the board and feel like your one with it cruising down a nice smooth street you honestly feel more at peace with yourself and the world. It's such a sick feeling

i ride a super flexy loaded vanguard with gumball wheels, shits dank

my 2 buddys have dervishes though and they're equally as awesome, just different, hairpoint turns in a second

nothing bad at all about this board, its wide, easy to turn, grippy and can do slides, good for dancing and all around a great board. if you have the money, get it

The money actually is kind of a problem.
Any board that I could get for less but would still be good for a beginner?

you can always look at ebay or craigslist or something like that. my board brand new was like 275 with the upgrade in wheels i chose so its not too far off. You can look into krackedskulls, i hear they are legit. Also i would shy away from sector 9 boards, they are very limited and from my experiance, just not that fun

I wouldn't want to bomb hills on one but a fun board for sure. Be sure to get the right flex pattern for you if you do. Comes in two or three different flex patterns.

you can get a krackedskulls for 180 including shipping. Great board. I love mine. I have a 38" I think scimtar which is perfect for dancing and carving, downhill might be shakey but i've probably gone 20+ without a problem. You're just going to need different bushing then those that come with the randalls. I have a smaller bustin spliff which is awesome for to and from class. but i love my krackedskulls. ask around for a discount code. i forgot what it was but ittle get you 10% or something off

Thanks man. I'd looked at kracked skulls but didn't know if it was legit. I think I'm going to get it if I do get a longboard.

i got a sector 9 longboard idk much about them the dervish looks dope as hell but wow makes me wanna go out and cruise

yup, as soon as it got consistently sunny everyone at UVic broke out the longboards..the only problem is the amount of people you see carrying them instead of actually using them....

Is it bad that I kind of want to get a Feeboard because longboarding gets too scary when you get going too fast bombing hills?

I think once you get the hang of it, it looks like you'd have way more control than a longboard. start small and progress why not. i was thinking about getting one, I love how much steeze you can throw around on a freeboard
