3 of us are looking into renting a couple of sleds.

We wanted to ski grizzly gultch and we figure that this would be the prime way. Are you allowed to bring sleds into this area?? If not do you have any other suggestions of places that would be better. Also there is going to be 3 of us, so what is the best way to do this as far as cost and performance. I figured We should just get two possibly one 2 seater.

I'm also open to the idea of some kind a service that allows you to jump on the back of one and catch a ride up.

any suggestions?? thank a million

unfortunatly grizzly gulch does not allow snowmobiles. the uintas and kamas area from what i hear has some really good snowmobile skiing. and also tony grove area has some sick stuff.

We were planning on rocking this deal, but the rental doesn't come with a trailer. I called and asked them if they had any skiing back where they are located (Mirror Lake) and she said that she didn't know but she also said that the area is rather unlimited. Does anyone have any info, or know this area at all?

It says that it's in the Uinta MTS so Is there going to be good assessable back there, or should I just spend an extra day at alta/ snowbird

I don't think you guys will find what you are hoping to find on the Mirror Lake highway unless you willing to venture far off the trail and go exploring. There isn't a ton of shredding to be done right off the road, although there is an okay road gap and a few mini mini-golf lines you can see from the road, just before the Bald Mountain Pass. If you guys have yet to rent, you should think about Guardsman's Pass. The area is much smaller, with much more sled traffic and I imagine there are already a few jumps built if you're willing to simply dust off someone else's work.

Good luck, and spend the extra money to rent "powder" or "mountain" sleds; trail sleds arent going to do anything for you.

I know this is suuuuper late, but for next year if you guys are still interested in sledding in Utah, I'm from Whistler and spent time 2 years ago sledding around there, had a blast at Mirror Lake!

It was a long road in, but super easy laps and pretty decent snow, some pretty gorgeous looking features and landscapes too if you're looking to shoot vid or film. Like said earlier, lots of minigolf and if you're a decent sledder some longer lines that are fairly easy too!

Here's some shots from the day

If you're tandeming in, pack extra gas for sure! It's definitely worth checking out. I hope to make it back next season... this year the backcountry was too unstable when I was down :(

If you don't know how to sled you will have a miserable day, if your goal is to get bc skiing done you will get MUCH more done with skins and trekkers and save tons of money in the process. skin up grizzly and you will have a blast.

This.

Although this is an old thread, I was thinking this the whole time I was reading it. You can go into grizzly and hit 3 or 4 jumps in a day if you want. The snow gets baked on the south facing side, but in terms of easily accessed terrain it can't be beat. Sledding it fun, but you'd spend a whole day learning how to do it and un-digging your sled if you're unfamiliar with sledding in deep snow.

But, since this thread is old, if the thread maker reads it what did you decide to do and how did it go?

Mirror lake highway is fun but i've been there a ton of times and haven't quite found what I wanted. But there is stuff there for sure.
