Which sport has the fittest athletes?

worldcup soccerplayer average the highest heartrate of any sport, believe it or not, motorcross riders are second.

^hah yea motocross riders have to be in REALLY good shape to race the way they do, and survive the crashes they have... not many guys can ride a full-out motocross track for 20 laps or so..plus you have to factor in heat races....

Soccer players for sure, cuz you need to run ridiculous amounts at different paces, and you have to be really strong.

you got it. swimming is the sport that overall will get you in the best shape. you pretty much use every muscle in your body when you swim.

swimming is made fun of for being gay and feminine but take a football player, tell him to swim 500 yards (not much at all)... hell be dead if he even finishes

swimming, cycling, and soccer. i'm sure there are some more but those are the primary ones i think of as fittest athletes.

Everyone seems to be mentioning cardio endurance as being equivalent to "fittest".

I would consider an average of strength and endurance, so I would say Lacrosse and Rugby players.

A lacrosse field is the about the same size as a soccer field, give of take a few yards, but the game is far more physical.

Not at all dude! A lax feild is about the size of a football feild, in all leagues. A soccer feild is only that size in high school. The MLS and FIFA feilds are like two times the size! And soccer players run a fuck lot more than lax players.

true about the field size, but laxers do a shit load of running, and then you add in the physical part and it becomes that much harder. try sprinting after every ball and in the process some defenseman decks the shit out of you. do that a couple times in a game and your gone unless your in shape.

No question, it comes down to two sports: Rowing and Nordic Skiing. Both sports use virtually every muscle in your body, and require lots of strength and endurance. Nordic Biatheletes are ridiculous, because after raising their heartbeat rate, they must have the control to basically stop it, shoot, and then ski again.

i used to play soccer, and now am all about the lax, but i still think soccer would be more physically demanding at a MLS or FIFA level. but those waterf polo players, i think theyve got us all...

Forbes magazine asked professional athletes, personal trainers, and all that for all sports which were the healthiest to play, giving you the most complete workout. Id think the sport giving the most complete workout and healthiest for you would have the best overall fit athletes.

Heres the top 10 for you people to lazy to look it up on the link below

1. squash

2. rowing

3. rock climbing

4. swimming

5. cross-country skiing

6. basketball

In no particular order

Rugby Players, triathletes, Freeclimbers, cyclists, swimmers, gymnists, I'm inclined to agree also with soccer midfielders

yes, I means the iron man, how fucking insanley fit and healthy do you have to be to compete that

What is it: 5 mile swim? bike like 110 miles, then run a marathon? omg

for real though, anyone who can compete in ironman competition, but i think wrestling is pretty high up there too, its by far the hardest highschool sport ( im in hs so thats all i konw to compare it with )

rock/ice climbers, lacrosse middies, soccer middfielders, gymnests

all of those are really fit athleats,

but the top one is horse jockeys

to be a jockey you need to be really strong , have lots of endurrance, and wiegh less then 110lbs.

NEVER they almost all have a rond belly...but it depends. the guy who climbed the 400 foot wall in 56 sec is mad crazy, but every sport has its beast, just for example I do freeski and dh biking for sure not the most demanding sports...but I own overall like 16 km in 75 min, 40 lenght in swimming in 18 min 50, 22 chin ups, etc. you can be a pro runner, but still cant do chin up for ur life.

excluding racing sports like cycling, triathlons, etc. including ball sports like rugby, football, baseball, etc., i'd have to say soccer players because they are moving nonstop as opposed to baseball or football.

Anybody ever watch those ESPN multi-sport tests... where they have football players and basketball and triathletes and ski racers and etc... ? well... ski racers actually win it pretty often.

k... wikipedia says Superstars... yeah, Hermann Maier won it in 2001, and Bode won it in 2002... so yeah... ski racers are right in there.

The Iron Man...

2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) swim (across Kailua Kona Bay), followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride (from Keauhou to Hawi and back), and a 26.2 mile (42.2 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island (from Keauhou to Keahole Point to Kailua Kona).

"SWIM 2.4 MILES! BIKE 112 MILES! RUN 26.2 MILES! BRAG FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE"
