Which skis should I buy?

I've been skiing for 13 years, and I've gotten bored of downhill. I'm moving to park & pipe skiing, and my budget is about $450 or less. The 3 skis I'm looking at are the armada El Rey, the armada AR7 and the volkl alley. Which one of these is best for a beginner park skiier who wants to build skill level in the park? I am really leaning towards the AR7, but I want the opinion of an experienced park skiier.thanks,

-Nate.

I'm 5'11". I'm going to get the 2012 el reys or the 2012 ar7's. Still need more detail on the differences, not just from the manufacturers but from people who have actually used them.

Sorry I misread the thread. Thought your age was thirteen.

I own the AR7 I can say it is a very good park ski. It's stiffer than most park skis. If you wanted a similar ski but softer go thalls (same sizes and dimensions just softer flex). The AR7 is more high end ski so cost more and should Last longer(usually).

The El Rey is a good all rounder and would be a good cheaper alternative. El Rey is just little bit wider meant to be little more all mountain Than AR7. El Rey is full Cap But I've seen them take alot abuse on rails. The El Rey is one of the much better skis in it's class of price point skis. New their around $400 and worth every penny.

For your information Im 5'9'' 170lbs and ride the AR7 at 176 -2.5 from center. I ride 50%allmnt50%park. Sometimes when hauling ass down steep groomers I wish had the 181. Just a little more ski to have better control. If I chose again between 181 and 176 I would go 181. But I ski 50park50allmnt so take it into consideration.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! If I make a little more money, I'll go AR7. But skipping last skiing season, I gotta buy new pants (I'm 16 so I grew a lot since I last went). I guess I'll just work it off, in the end I'll appreciate it more anyway. I looked up the thalls, and they're a little out of my price range. I'm starting park now anyway, so I'll save the expensive stuff for later. Thanks again!

I'd generally say go with AR7 cos its a better ski... but...everyone ends up trashing their first park ski. So, you might wanna go cheap(er) for now (El Rey) until you know what you're really looking for in a park ski.

yeah, good idea. I need new goggles and pants anyway, and theres $100 difference between the El Rey and AR7, so that gives me extra for the other equipment anyway.
