Which pro could be considered the Rodney Mullen of skiing?

I don't think any "pro" skiers are close to the level that Rodney Mullen is/was at in skating. If you read his biography and watch his bio on youtube(3 parts 30 min long) you will realize how invovled in skating and how insane he really is.

If I had to pick one skier, maybe pollard because he is very involved in advancing ski technology as well as inventing new things to do on skis with a different style than everyone else(sw corks, first person I saw do a press..etc)

Otherwise, Garret Russell is the closest thing as far as creativity. It seems like he invents a new trick every other day, not just grabs as ns has seen.

wait for "the future"

I'm tempted to say Wallish. Mullen has the most mind blowing, unthinkable manual flip combos. Half the shit he does I can't do with cheat codes on tony hawk. And wallish is just as impressive on rails. Most tech rider i know: pretzels, switch ups, spins on, off........first time i saw his unknown vid, damn.

^^ya when you think about it rodney mullen is basically just really tech and there are plenty of skiers that are really tech such as wallish, but rodney mullen is on a whole different level. i think jon should be up there somewhere too cause of all the double flips hes been inventing.

no one cus skating has progressed faster then skiing

rodney has been apart of skateboarding through all stages of its progresion and has helped push all stages.

no one in say the era of glen plake has moved on and pushed the sport of skiing to rails

skiers don't have enough options on what they can do to get as tech as rodney does. although with rockered skis manuals become much easier so combos and shit become possible. I can see some of the kind of things he does starting to happen soon with rocker technology.

I need to quit preachign about rocker but I can't it's amazing

When I think of Mullen, I think of flat-land master and teckmob Guru. Different from Danny Way's Insane gaps that put snowboarders to shame but Mullen is full fun and creativity so who ever creates new shit on skies and can keep doing it, will be be the RM of Skiing!

pollard.

He was on the fore-front of skiing back in the days of the first line prototypes, steezing it up. He skied the first lines switch, first sw corks, always been into the slow spinning/skiing for style rather than hucking. He was also one of the first to do presses. On top of that, his ski design has influenced the whole industry.

after watching those i completely agree that no one could be rodney mullen.

and given your formula, i'd say seth and the seth pistol/AK enemy were way more influential to ski design, and to skiing as a sport.

rodneys my new hero.

I'd say McConkey, in a way his style of big mountain riding is tech. He also got people skiing fat skis, then rockered/reverse sidecut skis. Kind of like Mullen experimented with deck shapes till he got the modern skateboard.

While we're comparing cock-size with skateboarding I'm gunna throw out Jp Auclair being the Danny Way of skiing.

Garret Russel is the most amaing underrated skier out there, him and Charlie Ager are the equivilent of tech on skis.

CF Cusson. Invented virtually all off-axis spins (through 720), sooo many grabs, popularized sw landings and takeoffs, invented the ollie...

Or possibly McConkey from a ski development perspective.

there is no way eric pollard is at all like rodney mullen. pollard is a steeze master, not a master of perfecting new tricks. i think the one pro who gets closest is charles gagnier, the fact that he tries to push the sport in so many directions is what makes him fit the part. but there really is nobody at the level of skiing that rodney was in skateboarding.

i personally think mullen (out of all big name skaters) couldnt be compared to skiiers. halk, way, bb, even hardcore street riders would be allot easier to compare to the ski world.

Mullen could be compared to old school hot doggin' because hes the master of flatground!

Rodney mullen is not just a tech skater who does crazy combos, he started numerous skate related companys and is partly responsible for the shape of the modern skateboard(concave, nose and tail raised) Read his biography, he did a lot more than what you might have seen in video parts.

Not Pollard. He's too gentle.

Mullin is so fast paced and tech. Think of a dude who does crazy switch-ups and pretzles and 1080's blindfolded.

Gagnier-esque.

But he's untouchable...Mullin that is.

Yep. Almost what i as going to post word of word. Pollard and Russell. but, its rodney mullen....

Yeah I was waiting for someone to say Gagnier. I mean that kid is such a fucking innovator.

are there any old freestyle acro skiers that do ballet tricks on little jibs in the park?

rodney mullen and pollard? nice work!

johny mosley made a lot of things happen for some aspects of skiing, but i wouldn't compare him to rodney mullen.

isnt rodney mullen like 46 years old? so wallish couldnt be cause he is so young, there arent any newschool skiers as old as him that are as good as him. and since newschool skiing is really like 7 years old its gonna be awhile till anyone has as much expirence and skill as him.

but like corey vanular, jon, wallish, and pollard could be when they get older.

Your all fucking wrong. Mullen pratically fucking started skating. The only comparison is JP Auclair. He really fucking pushed the freestyle movement WAY BACK before anyone else.

Get your history stright folks.

but, i'd have to say the three headed monster of JP-Vinnie-JF-asaurous is the equivalent (and whoever questions vinnie is stupid and should notice how they ski backwards and say thank you Mr Dorrian). or for people today chucky gangier is super tech like that.
