Which Pass?

Dear NS,

As of now I am going to UW and looking to aquire a ski pass. due to me leaving my home mountain of Mt.Baker, I am up in arms of to get a pass for stevens or snoqalmie. Please give me all the info about both. I realize snoqualmie is a bit cloaser, and both passes cost the same (college student price).

Stevens definately gets more snow, alot better snow, better terrain outside of the park, and great jumps in the park. their's also lots of sidecountry access and some hikeable terrain. both mountains have nightskiing but snoqualmie is alot closer to UW.

The only thing snoqualmie has going for it is the park, really nice and innovative rails/jibs, and pretty good jumps too. If your looking to do more jumps, stevens would be the place but snoqualmie has had the rail game for a while. however, if the college pass includes alpental, you will get alot easier access to better snow, backcountry/sidecountry, and really dope terrain.

The bottom line is if your going to be doing alot of everything, like lots of park and powder, i would choose stevens because it is a higher elevation therefore better snow, and you dont have to take a shuttle between mountains to find some good stashes. The park at stevens is really nice with perfect jumps and smooth rails, but both mountains have a good park. If you want a hill close to home and you're going to be doing mostly park but you wanna ski some pow on the good days, Snoqualmie would be a better choice becuase the drive is usually about 45 minutes compared to stevens which is about an hour and a half on a good day. The park is usually bangin at the summit and the terrain at alpental is really sick and is amazing on a good pow day, but due to lower elevation it doesnt get as much snow or as good quality pow as stevens would.

Stevens is better overall, but snowqualmie, you can get there in like 40 minutes, alpental is sick, and the park is good too. But if its the same price, stevens

Alpental is completely sick, which you will hear from everyone. Problem is a weekend pow day at alpy is death. It'd be like waiting in line for the release of the Playstation4 10 times a day~

haha great analogy

my vote obviously goes to stevens for every reason stated above. Ya it's farther from seattle, but you can car pool with people, and the drive is well worth not skiing in the rain

Last season I had worse luck on a weekday powder day at Alpental than on the weekends. Either way, the crowds at Alpental can be a bitch. Hour plus waits for Chair 2 on a good day really kill the stoke.

For me, not skiing Stevens much at all in the past, I am amazed at how well long lift lines are efficiently sent up the mountain compared to Alpental/ Snoqualmie's shit show. I was up there on some busy days last season and never waited more than a few minutes to get on the chairs. I will be skiing Stevens much more this season despite having a 20 minute drive to Alpental from my driveway compared to the hour and 45 minute drive to Stevens.

I know. But..... I'll be opening the coffee shop at 5:30 am regularly. Getting up to go skiing will be cake.

Are you gonna be drivin yourself up to Stevens on weekends and some weekdays this year? If you pick me up with a good cup of joe, I will make sure you are well rewarded. (I will let you have Scott~ for a night free of charge). No but seriously, I will hook you up with cool shit from my cool shitz stashes.

Yessir. You're always welcome to hop in the car.

I don't know about Scott though. Unless he's had quite a few drinks. Then the humor is more than welcome. Hahahaha.

I get free coffee at work too.....

If you wanted to shred Baker, you should have moved to Bellingham. It's stupid to choose a living area further away from the place you want to shred when you've got the options.
I'm sure someone needs coffee in Bellingham.

I didn't really have options this time. This job is a result of the fact that my uncle is the landlord for their new building. Yeah. I needed some Seattle time too.

GEESH. I do what I want, even though it means I have to drive lots.
