Which ones to buy? Just getting back from Iraq

I have been in Iraq for about 2 years, so just getting back into the scene. I wanna buy twin tips, and looked at the foils but concerned about durability?!? I also like the look of the chronics. I mostly ski in michigan (ice). 40% park 60% trails. So any help would be cool. I am 5'8, 140 and done growing. I also prefer short sticks. I am glad to finnaly be back, thanks for all your help. I also found a pair of chronic golds (167)for sale, whatcha think?

def cant go wrong with the chronics from what ive heard through talking to people. I would say to either go some Public enemies or some armada ar5s both will crush over that hard packed snow and ice.

The golds are just limited edition color. They do have Chronics WIDES too if you wanna ski thats obviously wider with the same construction as the regular chronics. I think the underfoot may be a little bigger on the PE's too and the overall ski is stiffer, so if your a big guy they will work better cause you wont wash out as much, but your 140 so you need something with a little bend to it.

Someone correct me if im wrong

those chronics would be a grab for u for sure man...chronics are the craziest skis i have ever ridden so if i were u i would def. check them out.

if you got chronics you might want 177s, line also sizes there skis a little short i think like 2cm

oh and also thanks for being in iraq and serving our country, huge props for that

Wait, so the Army will pay for your college tuition when after you serve, but they won't buy you a pair of skis?

he said he wants smaller skis, dont try to tell him he needs long ones if he said he prefers shorter sticks. 167 wont even be that small on you

^ yep, i'm about his size just a bit heavier and 167's are fine for park skiin. they never wash out... a good wax always helps though

DO NOT get the line bindings... they are way heavier than any others and with you not skiing for a while you will want something lighter

line bindings are great. DOn't listen to these guys, b/c the majority of them haven't ridden them. Check e-bay or if you want to get some of this years skis a good place to go is www.jibij.com

^^^ i rode the line binding last season. i broke off 4 nose pieces and 2 heels. i wasnt even skiing them hard. just regular flipps and spins. they was mounted by a line specialest and he wasnt sure what was rong with them. they also make you ski kinda wierd. but still super sick but i had some durabuility problems. so check out 06 line bindings if anything.

Chronics it is then, and yes the army pays for my tuition, but not my sticks!?! Can anyone suggest what binding to use and a good pair of boots too.

Get look or rossignol bindings. Safest, easiest binding to use. They don't need to be adjusted like salomons and have no prerelease problems.

Line bindings, from what I've seen with my own eyes, break extremely easy. They are very heavy as well, like 2 pounds more than Look/rossignols. If they work for certain people that is great, but if I was skiing anywhere I need to keep my skis on my feet I would be scaried for my life.

Boots are easy - go to a shop and figure out which ones fit your feet. If they fit I recommend Kryptons (or flexons if you can find them). 1080's are also great boots. But how they fit is the most important part.

You can't go wrong with LINE's.. and binding choice is up to you. If you're worried about knee injury, go with Lines... if not, then whatever will work just fine.
