Which one?

yes sir,

What is your budget? How much money can

you spend right away, and do you think you can get more money to invest in the

future?

$400-$800

2) What experience do you already have with cameras? Have you ever even used

one before? Have you helped your friend out with his camera? Have you owned

your own?

Not

a lot, almost none

2) What gear, if any, do you currently have? (tripod, old camera lenses,

mics, etc)

Only

a tripod

4) What are you planning to shoot and how do you want to use your camera? Are

you going to use this with the sole purpose of shooting skiing? or do you think

you might try other stuff as well (movies, documentaries, short films,

etc)

I want to shoot mostly skiing but I want

to have the option to shoot other things

5) Do you want a camera that you can

hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let

them shoot you? or will you be doing all the filming?

I will do all the filming

6) When filming skiing, how do you tend to shoot? (follow cams, leave it on

record on a tripod and hike, film from a tripod, etc)

I film from a tripod or follow cam mostly

7) What program do you

currently edit on? How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can

make tutorials and know the keyboard layout)

Vegas pro 10, 6/10

Get the t2i. You sound like you wanna get serious about filming, and the t2i is within your price range. So, go for it. The t2i is the best deal for your money, and will allow you to expand as a filmer more than the other camera will. My advice is to buy the body refurbished from adorama or canon, then spend the rest of the money on a lens.

Canon Refurbished:

Someone with more experience with the t2i than me can extoll their features, but my advice for you is to go for it. you wont regret it.

what do you mean? you can get a refurbished body for 530 on adorama, leaving him 270 for a lenses. spend a little more than that and buy a tamron 17-50 for 330 used. whats the problem?

ok thanks i like that one but its kind of out of my price range. do u have any other suggestions? that are a little cheaper

NO IT IS NOT!

Get a little AVCHD camera, you're looking to spend well over $2,000 for a solid HDSLR setup. Everyone telling people with under a thousand bucks to snag t2is needs to figure out what they are talking about before giving out shitty advice.

ok my dad has a canon slr and and i asked him and he has a bunch of different lenses that i just found out hes down for me to use, he also has a good tripod and pretty much all the accessories. does this change what i should get?

I doubt it. Unless he has all the video accessories, then it does not really change things. Microphones, glidecams, and fluidhead tripods are not often parts of photo kits.

Fuck me, im wrong. Eheaths right, it was shitty advice, and you should listen to him or akrieg not me, they know what they're talking about. Sorry. Gonna go lurk for a few years now

good call. at least just don't give advice that you're not positive is right to someone who will be spending hundreds based partially on your decision. also i agree with eheath. ive heard a lot about the tm700 as others have said.
