i goin to tahoe for spring break and im wondering which resort is best for pow/backcountry (main priority) and then park if theres no pow

which one is your favorite and an explanation would be appreciated

You might get better feed back in the regional forums but powder days are tough calls. Mt.Rose (specifically the chutes) are my favorite on any powder day, Squaw and Alpine also have awesome all mountain especially on pow days.

Parks I couldn't tell you a ton on since I haven't been back there since winter break, but Boreal, Northstar (both of those two for a continual line of different rail/box jibs) and Squaw all put up the best parks in my opinion. I hear Alpine has some pretty good jumps right now, and Sierra at Tahoe and Heavenly always have a good park usually too but they are down on the South end of Tahoe. Hope some of that helps.

I mainly stick toSquaw/Alpine and my decision where to ski is usually based on the conditions.Squaw has the mostchallenging terrain for sure and on a powder day is unreal. Definitely amust ski while you are in tahoe. Due to the amount of people skiing andthe majority of terrain being lift accessible it tends to get tracked out a bitquicker than most of the other mountains. Alpine has a lot ofhikes and if you are willing to put in the work you can get in some good runsdays after a storm. Unless its dumping I usually won't pay the extramoney for squaw.I'll hit up Homewood ifit's a huge storm day and both Squaw and Alpines lifts are on wind hold. The mountain is flat, has ok woods, but if its all that’s open its prettycheap and worth it.I hit up Rose a coupleweekends ago for the first time because it was raining at the base of alpineand squaw. It's the highest mountain, so it got somepretty good snow when the rest got a mix. It was a pretty cool mountainwith a bunch of mellow tree runs, but unfortunately their challenging stuff(the shoots) hasn’t been open this year,

A little South Shore love here-
Kirkwood gets my vote, the highest base in California, plenty of steep difficult stuff (like Squaw, Sugar Bowl), and a good deal of isolation. Also plenty of hiking near Carson Pass if you're up to it.
I have never had a good day at Squaw, but I guess I just need to spend more time there to figure it out.

Northstar-has everything and an INCREDIBLE park

Heavenly-has everything and more, good parks, sick groomers, good trees. it is crowded an expensive though

Squaw-hands down best. no more to say.

i like boreal though.... excellent park and night skiing.

Definitely Squaw and Alpine are amazing, but also up near $100 for a lift ticket.

For park, Northstar is unstoppable with Pinball and Moonshine. But also, Boreal has really stepped it up this year. It's the lowest resort on the north side next to Soda Springs, and I'd say 80% of its rideable terrain is park. Plus $40 a ticket is good. But then again you get what you pay for, and Boreal is tiny compared to Squaw or Heavenly.

Yo Mozzy!

K Wood is sick, no doubt, but both mt rose and mammoth have a higher base

my list goes like this:

Squaw, Kirkwood, Alpine... boreal and the star are sick for jibs.

can't believe i saw someone actually say heavenly, easily the shittiest mountain in tahoe, right down there with northstar and boreal. The only mountains that should be ridden on a powder day are kirkwood sierra and alpine meadows. I've been riding all over tahoe my whole life and let me tell you, squaw is very overrated. you wanna go waste 87 bucks on a lift ticket hit up squaw. sugar bowl is pretty sweet on a good day as well. as far as sweet tree skiing, there is no place better than sierra. you want the steep and challenging you go to kirkwood. its too bad you're not going down to mammoth, cause that blows every mountain in tahoe out of the water.

Squaw is not overrated if you want the best terrain in Tahoe (and yes it is better than Mammoth too), but hey if that's not what you're into then whatever.
