Which Full Tilt

Alright so I'm looking at new boots, but I don't have the biggest budget. I want to buy full tilts, but not sure which. Tried on Descendant 4's and Classics today, and preferred the fit of classics. I can buy orange classics at local shop for $350, Descendants for $315, or I can look online. I would love to get the black classics, but price is $400 everywhere. The only place I've found is blue-tomato.com but is it legit? Basically, my question is which FT's, should I worry about color, and is blue tomato legit? Thanks NS

From what I've tried on the Classics specifically do more than any other full tilt model or any other brands. Descendant not as much.

Do you have experience ordering from blue tomato shipping to US? It says they ship in 1-2 working days, which seems ridiculous

I don't. I wouldn't think it would be here in 1-2 days. thats probably their leave time to pack and ship then the actual shipping takes what it takes. from europ I would assume 7-10 business days. thats how long it takes packages to get there from us.

Why not buy from an american store for the same price and not wait forever on the shipping? We have the black classic on our site for $399. just depends what size you need.

Blue tomato appears to have them for $340... I'm a 28.5 by the way. I'll be sure to look at your shop but blue tomatos price seems unbeatable
 
I mean thats a good deal but whats the shipping going to cost? we charge $50 for international. Also, if you have any problems with them wouldn't you rather deal with someone here?

We are sold out of 28.5 unfortunately.

That $340 includes shipping... I would prefer to buy from US but that price beats out anybody else by $60... Thanks for the help I guess I need to make sure blue tomato is legit
 
Whatever you do don't buy them online. Once you factor in shipping and fitting they could easily cost way more then the $400 your local shop is asking. Besides the price the shop will actually fit you, not somthing you can get online, and they will hopefully also include a fit garentee which means you can have the boots refiited free of charge, again somthing you will not find online.

For boots, forget online and buy local.

Problem is local shop doesn't have them in the color I'm looking for... I guess I'll forego looks and go for comfort thanks for the help

I agree with tom , and if you buy them online who will heat the intuition liners ? Did you know / realize full tilts all come with a heat moldable liner that needs to be heated and shaped before you ski the boot ?

yeah dont worry what they look like. If they dont fit you wont care what colour they are.

Yes but it can be molded by use or so says the website so I was just going to wear them around the house

Tom could likely give a better answer on that one since he's a legit boot fitter. I personally don't care for full tilts anyway tho. They're cheaply made and tend to break. Are good news the park but not so much for freeride.

I got the orange classics this season, which I thought were ugly st the time, but now I'm adjusting to them. They were out of black for me too. I almost ended up with the k2 spine.
 
Check out d-structure, cause of the Canadian/American exchange rate you can get stuff for mad cheap. Pretty sure they got the black classics for about 300

Not true. Heat molding packs the liner out around your foot, you can totally do this by just skiing, might be a little less comfy the first day or two but in my opinion it makes the liner last a bit longer if you do not get them heat molded.

I hear this quite a bit that heat moulding a liner will make them wear out quicker but it's just not true. All heat moulding does is help reshape the liner better for your foot. Yes the same will happen over time but why not have it good from day one? If anything you may lose 4-5 days at the end of the liners use, or about the same time it takes to bed in, but once a liner is bed in it will wear at the same rate weather it was heated or not.

In nearly every case I would recomend moulding a liner. A company gives you a good heat mold liner, why not mold it.

With things like intuitions I think it's even more important. You want to use a toe cap with inutuitions and it's not to give more toe room (although this is a side effect) it's to sink your heel better into the back of the liner. With wrap liners this is especially important as there is no real shape built in. So I would say if you are getting full tilts and in particular ones with a wrap, which admitidly the op isn't, get the liners molded, it will really help.

Based on the boots you tried, I would also check out the drop kick. The descendant is for a wider foot and the classic is just, well, classic. I was sold on the drop kicks because because the liner has a neoprene part up by the toes to accommodate for slightly wider feet. However, it uses the same shell as the classics. Best of both worlds if you ask me.

I looked a bit, but my feet are actually very narrow. Thanks though
