This will be my first downhill bike so i dont want to spend an insane amount, but i want a quality bike. Any Suggestions?

first, look on pinkbike for a good condition used bike. if u cant find anything u like buy an oryx spitfire- awsome price for the package

 
yea if you want a ful out dh bike there expensive no matter what, you might as well buy a good one, that way you dont waste money cuz by the end of the season your progression catches up with the shitty low cost bike

One word, INTENSE. Best frame in the biz, can't break it, and holy S#$T they ride well. I love my M1.

get a used because you can most likely get something insane for the price of a crappy new bike.

You are going to spend at least 1500 on a nice used DH bike. If you really want to go all out I suggest getting an ASTRIX. These are the sweetest bikes around right now in my opinion. The HAVOC is the straight up DH bike, but it's not much good for much else. I really want a HUCKSTER, the DH/Freeride model that can climb fairly well too. Only thing is, these bikes are not cheap, but well worth the money.

dont get an oxyx spitfire. aweful bike. for the money I would say the aline but if you cant afford it then this years atomik is sick for the cash and definatly raceworthy. I picked up my m1 used for about $1200cdn though so if you look you can find a good deal used.

Brodie Diablo has a pretty good price, also the specialized big hit, or if your right into it, a banshee scream, or Elsworth would be suitable. There's so many to choose from.
