Which camera

thinking about getting a camera with a couple friends. Need some input on what one to use, i've kind of narrowed it down to 3 options. Im looking for fairly cheap but still good quality so i've got the 1)the 3ccd gl2-esque camera, the panasonic dvc30, 2)cheap HD camera, the sony hdr1, and 3) a super low budget 3ccd camera, the panasonic pv-gs180 which i've found for $400. So tell me what you think, any help would be appreciated.

how old are you becasue if you split a camera with a few friends, who is going to take it to college? splitting it just seems to make things very difficult, like who will keep it at their house, who will pay the most, ect.

also what type of filming are you going to be doing? if it is just skiing i would go with the low end 3ccd panny.

^that is a review of the dvc 30 if that helps

I suggest getting a trv900. It is a consumer 3ccd camera and is the little brother of the vx1000. It is a very good camera and on ebay it goes pretty cheap.

ok, well does anyone have or know anyone who has the sony hdr-hc1, cause im kind of interested in that because it's HD. Anyone have a clip of it too?

Fuck it isn't HD, it's Compressed HD, also known as HDV. the image quality isn't better, and you need a hella fast pc or mac to edit it

For what you're doin a 3ccd is overkill so HD would be massive overkill. My dad has a nice jvc cam 3.5inch lcd, takes stills and is compact. $700 new.

what do you mean for what im doing? Im gunna be filming skiing, and looking for the best quality possible at a somewhat low price. Im gunna get a lot more into filming this year and film a lot more than i did last year (i only filmed like 4 days).
