Which bindings?

I've been lookin for bindings and my options now are Pivot 15 or 18 and Tyrolia Attack 14. I don't want to spend too much on them and want them to be more responsible than markers cuz my markers gave sploded twice and they are terrible in my opinion. Maybe not the jesters but griffons and squires have killed me. And I ride medium jumps and rails, only park.

If you want to be cheap, attacks, pivots are probably your best option, but if you have to question whether or not you need the 18, you don’t, telemark will get you all the hot moms on the mountain

If your happy spending the money on pivots, go for it. If you want to save some money but still have a bomber binding go for the attacks

I'd personally go with the 18 just cause. I like the fact its a metal binding and the higher dins can be useful. Also in spring its like a 50$ difference usually so I wouldn't get to caught up on the decision between the two. End of the day they're both pivots and are excellent bindings.

Agree. I will prolly buy 18's if there is not any super sale.

18 is likely excessive. Depending on your height, weight, bsl, etc you probably won’t go over 10/11. A 14 din binding should be more than enough for almost everyone.

Just to clarify for everyone, the reason you would buy an 18 and not a 15 is because you want whatever din you actually ride to be right smack in the middle of the din range. So if you buy 15's and you ride a 7 din or 14 din, you're probably too close to the limits of the spring in either direction to be safe. Predictable spring release is best in the middle and is ok pushing it somewhat to either end but it's unsafe to ride a 15 at 15 lets say...

Cuz 12 din is too light but 14 will be fine. I just haven't seen 14's in a long time. And I found 18's for 270€.

you ride more than a 14 din????

Now 11din which is max of my squires but i think I would ride 13-15dins.

Why higher? [tag=1388]@skierman[/tag] says I'm fat and I ride a 12 din. I ride long skis that are always 100+ underfoot and my actual weight is 230. I ride a higher din than most dudes I know (who are way better than me) who are tossin shit on big yumps. Not sure what king of weight you're throwing around but for the sake of your body I would consider not riding 14 din unless you have real issues pulling out in a set of properly setup pivots. Don't think because your squires make you pull out at 11 that you need to go higher in a real binding.

Okay. Sometimes when im throwing corks my bindings say fuck u and skis detach and I die. But as u mentioned that if its maxed (the spring) it might be just that. So I will be fine with 15's and 14's?? But the 18's were cheaper than 15's....

You're not releasing because of the dins, you're releasing because of the shit binding and possible improper setup. Get 15 or 18 depending on what you wanna do, but as a point of reference... Most homies I know who really chuck on jumps are like 10 or 11 din and dont have any issues with pivots. But we're talking about dudes doing dubs on PC jump 2 or Woodward PC big jump. Be careful with your din's, it's not worth blowing a knee.

So if my din is 7 would pivot 14s be fine with the lowest being 5?

Yes I believe so. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure that they are all tested for consistency at every din.

This is true. There is still an old school frame of mind that you shouldn't use the bindings if you're on either end of the DIN range but while it's probably not a bad way to go it isn't really any safer.

I think if you're destroying 14s of any brand, you should be looking at 18s of any brand. They will be sturdier.

They will be heavier too, but if you destroy the lighter ones you need to do something about it. Maybe ski lighter in your loafers.

Pivots will probably last you longer than the attacks. So pivots are more of a long term investment than the attacks.

attacks are the tits though, just remember to adjust the afd correctly every once in a while.
