He's a good skier with good style...but I think people have caught up to his stuff from 5 years ago...but he still has a style I enjoy, for the most part.
 
I almost can tell where his body parts are though...almost.

That presumed 180 shot up a few posts I don't like though...It's just my opinion on certain shots of his, so that dosen't matter much. Just refer to my post above this one.

Lotsa big time suckers on this thread. Mickael IS ninthward. How can ya dubt him. Still the steeziest rider out there, no doubt. And for all u thinking Mik is a bad role model... You wanna pull the "sport" into the alpine direction like Jon Olsson?: "Let's see how many hits i can stick out of hundred" Is not how skiin' was supposed to be... New school skiin comes from the snowboarder.. not the arieals, alpine and gymnastic sports. style is more important then flippy-flippy in this game... get it kids, or skiin will be ruined

i really wish our sport was influenced more by guys with the ski style of Mik (notice i said ski style, everyone should make their own lifestyle influences) than it is the ski style of simon or olson.

dont we spend a ton of time hating on aerials, moguls, racing, and general gapers on here?? double flips and 1260s without style are straight up stupid. its the kind of thing that impress gapers, aerialists, mogul skiers, and generally the kind of people that judge our sport in a way that we collectively have screamed we dont want to be judged like that.
 
It all comes down to exposure for a sport that is still in its early stages. If the average american would rather see simon boost way high out of the pipe and only spin one way rather than a slowed down 1 then that is what mainstream channels like NBC and ESPN are going to play. The sport is growing and with that it starts to branch off in different directions, the natural evolution of a sport which hopefully becomes more and more widely accepted.

right now the way our segment of the sport is, most people who are into our sport are decently talented. if it goes really mainstream we are going to have an influx of kids getting their parents to buy them twintips, getting them mounted wrong, and shitting around the parks not hitting anything, just sitting in the park because its cool, or god forbid they decide to hit a feature and they will get hurt.

think about how many people you see that wear snowboard and skateboard gear that either a) dont participate in the sport the are supporting, or b) are terrible at the sport. Do we want our sport associated with people like this? I dont

guys like simon and uncle e and sal masacela are promoting amplitude as the face of our sport, but thats gay, thats as gay as freestyle motocross. we should be focusing on INDIVIDUAL and ORIGINAL style, such as that of Mik D. how original is it to drop into a pipe and say "hey, i think im gonna do the same run as last year but ill just add an extra 180 to my bottom hit or go 2 feet higher out"...its not

and as far as it bringing in more money for research and developement of better products and stuff...do we really need that? BIG NEWS FLASH: good skis dont make good skiers. the skis that are coming out now are progressing and getting better without money from our sport being mainstream.

why do we care what the average american wants to see? isnt that selling out? shouldnt we only care about what we want to see? FREESKIING, PLEASE DONT SELL OUT! sadly, that sounds like just the thing someone like simon wants...but guys, our sport is fine on its own and doesnt need to sell out.

Sparknotes: our sport is not mainstream, thats good, it keeps gapers away, we have good products, we dont need to put "spin to win" as the face of our sport to stay afloat. style and originality FTW

i m not a big fan of him but still, i have no reason to hate him, he is a good skier.

I think I read that he was going to be coaching at the Demonium camps over the summer, not sure which ones (they have them at Les Diablerets, 2Alpes and Saas Fee).

Why all the hate? he may not be at leading the scene at the moment, but he is surely still a ridiculously steezy skier.
