I don't know if anyone out there cares about polotics, but now is as good a time as any to start. President Bushhole has proposed an "economic stimulus package" that, if passed, would put $800.00 into the hands of every tax paying american. I'm buying some new skis. How about you?

this is such bullshit. right before a new president, a new congress, and a third of the senate is elected they propose these "packages" to put more money in your hands because "its gonna help the economy." where in reality its just to make you want to elect whoever. and it wont help the economy in the long term its gonna help china's economy because with only 800 bucks your gonna but some cheap goods. not pay off debt or buy an american made car.

first off, WRONG! the stimulus packages are only available to certain incomes.....

second, most of the people that would be getting this "refund" do not pay that much in taxes........

i am 18 a senior in HS and if i get one i will be donating it to charity, i do not want welfare...............

this last year i made ruffly 6,500$, I will be paying around 150$ in taxes, if i get this "package" i will have not payed 800$ in taxes, so why should i get 800$ back?........ that is not a refund that is welfare.....

Those of us who have to pay our own way and don't live with mommy and daddy will most likely be welcoming this "welfare". It's harder to feed your high horse when you have to pay for electricity.

It's not really welfare. The government is trying to put more money in the hands of people so they SPEND it and boost the economy. They are trying to bring us out of the recession.

I think you needed to make at least like $3000 to get the $600. I did, so I'm going to be putting that $600 towards the suby I just bought.

Read what I said. Most people with over $3000 gross for the year will get around $600+ for a rebate. It also depends on if you are single/married etc or how much income you make. My parents make quite a bit so they won't be getting a rebate. It depends on a lot of criteria.

I hope I get it, I made like $6500.

and the idea isn't that bad, it is a direct, no fucking around way of putting more buying power into the hands of the people, some need it, some don't. I don't but if they give it to me I'll take my girlfriend on another vacation.

wtf.. i didnt hear about all this.. i made like 2000 last year and went to sc hool full time. but ya.. could def use 800 bucks right now.

I dont think you will get anything. I heard you needed over $3000 total made for the year, and then you get at least $600 back if you are single/unmarried.

for once it sound like it'd be good to be an american...

I think i'd buy a new holden suit and ec accesorys and goggles if i was getting it. i hope gordy b takes the good idea for our country.

It was approved.

Tax rebates of $600 to individuals who make $75,000 or less, and $1,200 to couples who make $150,000 or less. After those income limits, recipients get 5 percent of however much their income exceeds the limit.

Each child in a household gets an extra $300 in the rebate.

So, all you kiddies out there hit your folks up for $300 sometime this summer.

totally getting 600! And I will Gladly put my money into the economy in the form of new 09 Line Blends. Dream come trueee

as far as this program is designed, that actually one of the most irresponsible things you could do with the money, and a major argument that detractors of the idea have used to show how this will not impact the economy in any measurable way.

this money is intended to be used on goods or services that will boost the economy. the example the proponents of the bill continually use is a flat screen tv (although i don' t know how nice of a flat screen you can get for 600 bucks) but in our shared experiences, this money should be used for a new pair of skis or boots or a heli trip or something.

using it to pay off existing debt will do nothing to stimulate the economy, which is what the program is designed to do.
