Where to Wax skis

Ok I don't have a workshop or a ski vice so what do I use to wax my skis? I have plastic crates to get the skis in the air, but what can I use to keep the skis from sliding on top of the crates? It has become a pain to wax skis and I just want a good way to do it so I don't have to hate waxing my skis...

+k for any good advice

Put a little rubber mat or something grippy like that on top of the crates. My swix vices just have a little strip of rubber on each one so skis don't slide around.

Thank you for the help I'll do that tomorrow

I just flip them upside down on my garage floor...

I dont usually scrape either. Just smooth the wax as best as I can with the iron, then use a brush to knock down big "imperfections" and boom: sammy2gucci with your freshly waxed honnies.

i duct taped some boxes to the ground and I put some duct tape on top of the boxes to serve as some sort or friction to keep the skis from moving. Definitely would use rubber though. Oh if you use shoe Boxes, tape the lids shut as tight as possible so they don't move.

Find a way to bungee cord the binding upside down to the crate. I have a set of sawhorses permanently set up in my basement all winter long. I bungee cord the back of a binding to the sawhorse and voila. Also… Scrape like a motherfucker, the last thing you want is wax buildup on the bottom of your skis.

I usually do 2 milk crates with an extension cord in my driveway. Don't want to get wax all over my floor. Works fine.

I've done it just on the ground. just use a strong rubber band or thin rope to tie your brakes down, iron with preferably no holes and just wax normally.

I know you dont have a workshop but do you have a saw or a friend with one? Pretty easy+ cheap to make some vice like things out of wood

Yea haha and I have a work bench down in my basement. So it would be a perfect area to make a little ski workshop... I just don't know where to start.

Here is my setup. It is pegboard mounted to some posts mounted to a work bench. It was already built when I moved into this house but it seems easy to build.

Instead of using traditional wax, I use liquid teflon. Waaay easier to apply and not any more expensive. It's called Zardoz NotWax. It's like $20 and will last all of any season. Just buff it on every 3 rides or so and puts the color right back in your bases and is super slick.

2 chairs has served me well....

that is my new rap name Two Chairs

two chairs fuckin all the bitches but who cares come and battle me if you dares and flu shares with 3 bears

on the bottom. putting wax on the topsheets won't do anything

Beat me to it. HOWEVER K2 made a topsheet for their BC skis a few years back that you could actually wax. Snophobic topsheets to keep snow from building up. They kinda worked.

i keep forgetting to try it, but my dad gave me this stuff he puts on the hull of his boat. its called permanon, its like super high end rain x. it lasts a whole summer submerged in salt water. im going to try putting it on my top sheets, and possibly goggle lenses as well. im sure it will work for the top sheets, goggles will be interesting though. ill try it on an old pair first.

if it works on goggles im gunna be fuckin stoked.
