Where to stay in crested butte ?

im headed to CB for a few days sometime between august 4 and 12.

i want to mt bike a few trails especially 401 but ill be with my parents who dont ride so probably just hike some trails.

any word on a good campground to stay close? all the hotel rooms ive found are like 100 $ a night and we would rather camp anyway

lots of places are national forest so you dont even need to go to a campground, go out slate river or washington gulch and you can just throw a camp up whereever

the old town inn is probably the cheapest hotel besides the hostel which is pretty cheap
 
i haven't done much camping in that area, but if you're looking for a place for a night or two to freshen up and shower, i higly recommend the Elizabeth Anne Bed and Breakfast. If I remember right, their prices are decent, they're dog friendly, and they offer the BIGGEST breakfast I've ever had. Best of all their skiers and bikers themselves so totally get it.... they also have a hot tub there.

I stay there every time i go ski crested butte.
 
i bet man, front range just cant compare. im definitely trying to ski there this year, hopefully when you and ben are back, we should figure something out...
 
hey guys thanks for the help, we ended up staying at the KOA in gunnison cause my moms afraid of wildlife.

rented a bike and rode 401 backwardsto the peak and then back down. the uphill was a bitch. but was awesome regardless.
