Going to south america takes alot of planning so im starting to plan next years trip but i cant figure out what camp to go to, im intrested in skiing in powder, and not much park, and looking to ski in july/ august

los lenas or ushuaia argentina

i went to ushuaia this summer, so awesome. great terrain. los lenas is bigger though i think.

^you went to cerro castor, eh??

But the camp you want to go to is SASS, South America Snow Sessions, located in Las Lenas, the best resort in south america from what ive heard. And its in argentina. Talk to mckeeman, he went there and apparently was amazed.

Portillo, Chile

I've never been anywhere in South America, but from pictures and snow reports, this looks like its up there with the best

Portillo for sure. Small resort, but endless acres of hiking and heli skiing. Expensive but hotel Portillo is super nice with a spa and all that shit

you can stay in the hostel thing, and get all the same stuff(not in the rooms) as someone staying at the hotel

what? are you joking? ya its good experience but sharing a room with a bunch of bastards i dont know who like to sleep at 8pm isnt that fun, at least compared to a nice room to myself pools and hot tubs and shit.

Are you kidding me? whenever I've stayed in a hostel its been people within 5 years of my age, we've chilled all the time, gone drinking together, ridden together. hell, one guy actually threw me into the top bunk cause i was too drunk to make it. Its such a friendly atmosphere, it's cheaper, and hopefully the place will have a sauna or hot tub.

i need to get back down there, with better spanish too. cerro castor was ill, but almost no park. it was like their second year having one. i'd say las lenas has a great one.

i would really not recommend portillo, the terrain is so flat and theres no park at all. i went last summer and there isnt much area to ski on, seriously.

dont waste your time anywhere else but Las Lenas Argentina. I spent a month there in september. Sickest terrain you will ever see in bounds or within a 45 min hike/skin.

The best terrain in all of SA, hands down. Look at the pics in my profile and you will get an idea.

for accom, check out www.southamericaski.com, they know their shit and you can get accom as cheap as $100 per person per week if you like living in chinatown...(as the area of LL is called.)

plus its the easiest place to poach tix.
