Where to ski if you attend Ohio State

I have been admitted to Ohio State (Columbus) and am wondering if there is any skiing in the area. Please tell me, regardless of how far away any area is, just so I have an idea of what I'm getting myself into as far as skiing is concerned.

skimadriver.com sickest place around. its like 45 mins from campus. if you join the ski team, people carpool up there all the time. message TPalms for more info!

Ski team on campus goes to Mad River. It is 45 minutes to an hour away. They have great park, and people from team are up there almost any day out of the week. We also take a winter trip, weekend trips to other local hills and people often arrange trips out west in the spring.

Capital Park 45 minutes away. Best park I rode out in the Mid West by far. Huge rail selection and jump line while constantly changing it up to keep things fresh. Coming from Lake Tahoe area to OSU for school, Capital Park was able to keep me sane skiing in Ohio because their park was such a blast and the people there are super chill. Plus you can join OSU Ski Team for all your skiing and partying needs!

First off, CONGRATULATIONS! You got admitted to a very fine school.
Looks like others beat me to it, but hit the OSU Ski Team up!
We have people going up to MRM every day, you can easily hitch a ride. And I mean literally pretty much any day someone is skiing.
AVOID the Ski Club, they on one trip a year for a week and have socials once a week at some bar. We ski every week and party every week.

hey im the social chairman for osu ski and board team and i gotta say you are getting into a better skiing situation than you probably ever could have hoped for. capital park at madriver mountain is insanely good. 5 jumpline and 20+ rails out there right now. osu ski team (NOT osu ski club) is super legit. while it is technically a racing team you are not required to race and we are really starting to get into the freestyle scene in both skiing and snowboarding. with osu ski team you can ski as much as you want to because were super good about carpooling and finding people rides. last year i didnt have my own car and i still got 84 days in. PM me if you have any questions at all

I miss you Teddy!
Mad River Mountain is where it is at for columbusites. Snowtrails is also close, but their park isn't given the resources that MRM gives to Capital Park and it shows. 5 Jump line (realistically you can hit 4 of the 5 but one is the big air jump that they left up).
MRM also has competitions going on all the time. If you are a snowboarder they had the redbull buttercup which had a sweet setup. They also do two big airs a season. They had a pre-season rail jam with a 3k cash purse.

sounds like my skiing career is in good hands. I'm visiting the campus in February for Preview Days, so I may hit up the ski team while I'm there.

Sup! I'm an officer on OSU Ski Team--message me when you're on campus, or even better let me know when you're going to be on campus before hand, and if you bring your skis we can get you out to Mad River to check it out!

Joining ski team has been the best decision I've made so far in college, and I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed if you join us as well.

PM me if you want or need any more info/specifics of ski team.

it looks like it's official now that I'll be attending the Ohio State University come September. I'm glad to hear that the Mad River people are a good group to ski with. Tyler, I won't have time to make it out to Mad River as I'm coming in and going out pretty quickly but I will hit you up later and let you know what free time I will have. Oh and thanks everyone, seeing all this support and stoke for the area and the school is making me very happy to be attending.

How pricey are the Mad River season passes? I checked their website and there was no information about season passes online. Is there a college pass?
