Where to set bindings? (Core center or closer to tail)

Hello,

yesterday i rode my new K2 Shreditor for first time, but i faced some difficulties. I think the problem was on the binding settings. Firstly, i must say that i set them on the core center of the skis. When i was on the park i did some 360's, but the tails of the skis touched one the other. I didn't have this problem when i was skiing on casual skis and did 360's. That's the first problem. The second problem i had, is that when i was skiing on powder, i could not turn easily (again ski bindings was set on core center).

Is that a problem of where the bindings are set? Should i move them closer to the tail of the skis? Or i must get used to that setting?

Thanks in advance,

Alex.

If you're skiing all over they should be about -2 to -3cm back from true center, center mounted skis are terrible for anything but park. The reason your tails kept touching is because you're not used to having so much ski in the back, which is a result of having center mounted skis

Hmm ok, thank you, i understand and i agree with your opinion. I'm waiting to see some more answers to decide what to do.

Move them back at least 2 cm. Center mount is absolutely terrible in pow as your tips will often dive under the snow. Having your tails touch on jumps isn't really a problem, just something you get used to. If you aren't skiing 100% park, don't center mount. What's the recommended on the shreditors? (it should say either on the topsheet under where your boot goes or there should be a small notch chipped into the sidewall)

Also, for future reference, call it "true center", not "core center".

Core center on k2 skis is the center of the sidecut which is not true center. True center is the measured center of the ski. If you mounted your ski at core center they should be fine, they are made to ski in that position or close to it. It sounds like you have not been on skis this size before and you are struggling to adjust. Ski them some more and if you continue to struggle then decide if you want to redrill them, but I doubt moving the mount position a few cm back from core center is going to change your experience very much.

^ k2 core center is not true center.

I thought it (core cetner) was the center of the ski. I will measure that..
