Meh. Bend is a better town in my opinion, somewhat more similar to Burlington than Tahoe, but Tahoe has all around better skiing. Sick terrain and pretty legit parks at Squaw/Alpine, Northstar has one of the best parks in the country and Boreal isn't too shabby, and Mt. Rose and Sugar Bowl have pretty gnarly terrain. that's only north lake, too.
night life is better in south lake, but truckee, tahoe city, and incline aren't too bad for night life but it's no Burlington by any means...I wouldn't really characterize it by its night life. Tahoe's nice cause it's 40 min. to reno and ~4 hours to San Francisco and a little more to other coastal areas, which is sweet. tons of awesome mtn biking, hiking, etc right in town and Yosemite is sick and pretty close by.
my only complaint is a lot of the work is highly seasonal, which has its ups and downs.
I might recommend Bozeman, MT as being more similar to Burlington's culture and there's sick skiing there--not as much park though. I think all around, though, SLC is, in my opinion, the best living/skiing situation in the west if you're looking to live in a city with amazing parks and big mountain skiing nearby--pretty incomparable in that regard. It's in no way related to Burlington, though, except in college/population maybe.
