im coming to NZ in a couple of months to work for a year and i want to know where all the hot spots are during the summer and better yet where can i get some good lines in the winter. im not big into the park scene but i love the steeps and powder, i started to really get into back country skiing and the mountaineering side of the sport. if anyone can give me advice on where to go, i would appreciate it heaps.

ok man if you are into the mounaieering backcountry side of the sport there are endless oportunitys here in NZ. you would be definatley wanting to head to the south island. there you have the southern alps this big fuck off mountain range down the middle of the whole island. thats where all the skiing is basically.umm i cant type much now but i will add shit to this. later scotty

when i go down to NZ i've been told that queenstown is where i should go but is that really where the best skiing is or is it because of the night life? if NZ is anything like canada, the best ski hills are the ones nobody really knows about, that get epic dumps and no lift lines. will anybody let me in on some hidden gems?

CLUB SKI FIELDS

pretty much all of them are in canterbury. they have like 3 gnarly ass rope tows that are called nutcrackers. you use this clamp thing that looks like a nutcracker to hold onto the rope. they are fuckin cool. yhe i dunno there are heaps of club ski fields and thats defnitley the best kept secrets if it is a secret? whateva. check out www.snow.co.nz thats got some info on them. umm. oh yeh like a busy day at these places there will be 20 people over a pretty big area so you ride freshies for like 4 days before its tracked out. adn the passes for these places are dirt cheap aswell.

clubfields are all around cristchurch, it'd probably be the best option, mt cheeseman is known as the steepest field in new zealand (er i think)and broken river is kindof the powder heaven ungroomed place, that is if you want to walk up and use nutcrackers.

speaking of which i just spent five days in porter heights and they had three table tops and some rails which was pretty impressive

i was just on a cantebury road trip mt cheesemen is prety tame i heard mite have good backcountry id duno but broken river is prety cool rite next to craigieburn which would be da gnarliest skifield in new zealand especially with its tows yeow!!

yeh man those tows are soooo sick at broken river. def some good skiing to be had there.
