where to go for 1st trip out west???

I live in the east coast and have never skied out west before. This season I am planning my 1st trip out west and have some q's. What mountain would be the best mountain to go to? What time of year? Does anybody know of hidden discount trips? Finally, When do most mountains open for the season? THANKS!!!

 
Hey man lots of people will tell you go to Whistler but if you really wanna escape the crowds head to kicking horse in Golden B.C. That was my first trip out there and that was the most amazing place ever, plus we had a wee but of new powder. We also went to Sunshine(beauty glade skiing), Lake Louise (pretty decent park there), Panorama (really hard bowl up top) but still out of all of em Kicking laid supreme, if you want to get stoked on going west in Canada then Kicking Horse will do that for you. O ya the locals are really chill there and they will explain or show you anything you want! Have fun man and make the best of your trip.

mammoth is great, i was highly impressed with keystone (plus they do nightpark there, a plus), whistler is great but damn overpriced

either go Salt Lake City or Summit County/Vail/Aspen Colorado. Yea Mammoth is dope, but i have heard that it sucks besides the park, the town sucks and there are no resorts around it... but thats what i have heard, i have never been there... I have been to Utah and live in CO... its dope because u have anything u want to ski and they are all close... 11 resorts within an hour from SLC... 12 within 2 hours, 7 within 30 minutes from Dillion/Summit County - all of them have parks and good big mountain close, it doesnt matter go to CO or Utah...

park city isnt just a park mountain, they have some sick terrain, alta and snowbird are hands down better, but park city and canyons are pretty fun too

 
oh, and most mountains tend to open early november (like mammoth is opening nov. 11th)

Go to utah, stay in park city, ski the bowls at park city, 99-90 at canyons, skip deer valley and head over to snowbird/alta. That has been my trip the 3 times ive been out west, its awesome every time.
