Does anyone know how I could get my hands on a keg for party I'm throwing ? I live in Montreal -Qc - Canada. I called up Molson-Coors and Labatt, but they said you need a restaurant or bar permitt...

I'm guessing from a liquor store in canada. But after seeing the prices of beer in canada, a keg is gonna be like 200 bucks.

Find a local brewery.

You shouldn't need a license though, atleast here in BC. Maybe it's different over there in QC.

When I purchase kegs they just take a photocopy of my id for the liquor agency or something if it is needed + a credit card for deposit. I just had 5 kegs last weekend, so thats how they do it.

You can get beer in grocery stores and 7/11's but as far as I know, they both don't carry kegs. The rest of the alcohol is taken in charge by government owned establishments called the "S.A.Q."s who also don't carry kegs.

HEINEKEG!!! Haha

And no, don't ever buy a heinekeg. They always result in half foam and you can find better beer to buy in keg form than heineken. It sounds like a good idea, but dont.

i appreciate you correcting my triple fail. and thanks for the advise on those even though im not 21 haha. +Karma

Thats because you have to let it sit for an hour.. it says right on the back of the keg in big letters, i find it actually great if you follow the instructions

Had one of those bad boys occupying my right hand down at senior week. So convenient.

Not much of a keg party if you dont know where/how to get a keg there buddy...

Anyways, for only 1 keg it's barely worth it. Just get a 6 24s, it'll be cheaper.

Otherwise just drive to Cornwall if your extremely adament about it (about an hour drive).

Now for getting a keg in Montreal:

-Befriend a bar/resto owner who will buy extra kegs for you.

-Know a rep from a brewery. Do not cold call the Macro-breweries, they will laugh in your face/tell you it is illegal.

-I've heard of some workshop/artisanal independent brewers who sometimes have kegs for sale. Not much of a beer to party on though; the stuff is wicked heavy and flavourful. I dont have their contact info... sorry. I hear there's one in Pierrefonds.

-Steal

Yeah taxes on liquor here are absurb...

I think the cheapest 50L+ Keg at the beer store would be Pabst for $200 (someone from Ontrario, feel free to correct me). That's without the deposit.

He could get the equivilent amount of beer for the same price here in bottles, and he wouldnt have to pay for gas. But he loses the thrill of having a kegger. Damn opportunity costs..

yoo my buddy had a friend who can get kegs for 1 bill. ill ask him and try and tell you as soon as possible. i live in montreal too. where do you live in mtl?

I'm pretty sure we got a keg of sleemans for around that...

on another note, come out to BC it's even more expensive than ontario, I love going back to Ottawa cause a 24 is like 15$ cheaper on the east coast. Here for a 24 of kokanee which is one of the cheaper beers here i spend almost 45$

yeah thats crazy, i dont remember what the deposit was, we've had our shell for a while but its $43 to refill with keystone and coors light then $37 for busch, then good beer is a little more, cheapest good beer would be rolling rock and thats like $50 i think

^ coors is pretty decent, but i dont think you guys get the same stuff as we do in Canada. I love going to quebec and getting a 30 pack of coors in cans for 30$, such a great fuckin buy.

The trick I found with those Heiniken mini kegs is to pull that tap real slow and only like a 1/16 of the way back. The longer it takes the better the pour. Also tilt your glass, that's day one basics, son.

I think you can only find them in Mordor or at the top of The Dark Tower. Maybe beyond the Wall? Kessel Spice Mines?

Report back if found.

Bullshit, no way its that cheap. In Spokane, the cheapest is around $100 without the deposit. Its actually cheaper to get a blonde ale from a local micro brewery ($100) than it is to get domestic like PBR (110+)

The only way you can get a keg near montreal, is if you know of anyone who owns a bar, or works for a micro-brewery. Our liquor store called SAQ don't carry keg, actually they usually never carry beer, they only sell wine and spirits. You get your beer at the grocery store or the corner store, but even there you won't find a keg bigger than the heinekeg. SO either try to find a used keg that someone or a brewery would be selling, and get it filled wherever.. or Suck it and buy the big ass 55 beer for 60$ at costco or club price. However you wanna call it.
