I know a few of you out there are serious videographers, and probably go through many tapes in a season. Do you know of a cheap place online to get decent tapes? I've googled, and found a few decent deals, but I was curious to hear from other's about where they get their tapes. Any helpful input welcome thanks.

you might think im ridiculous. but i bought them off ebay. 100 sony tapes for 110 bucks. i got a good deal.

right now i'm only looking to buy at 20 tapes. I'm going to be shooting a documentary for school over spring break, and it wouldn't be unreasonable to think that I'd go through about 10 tapes during the shooting. I found a site online that does free shipping, and i can get 20 tapes for just under $50.  Thats the best deal I've found. E-bay only has good deals if you're buying, like ECM said, 100 tapes or something, but I dont need that many.

not bad. but try to keep it to the same brand of tapes that youve been using. mixing tapes and tape lubricants is very bad for the heads

yeah i know this. I've been using panasonic tapes. The brand doesn't matter so much as long as you stick with a particular type, like the ME (metal evaporate) tapes that I use can't be mixed with the other kind. I forget what they're called but Sony is famous for making them.

again, thanks for all the replies. The place I found to be the cheapest sells them for $2.49 a piece, and does free shipping. I know where I can find some, just looking for the cheapest before I order. I dont think i'll find a better deal tho.

you can get them anywhere with an electronics section that has mini DV cameras...costco even has them, like 8 for $24

I am looking for some Panisonic "HD" tapes. At Best Buy they are $20 for a pair. FUCK THAT.

I need like 30

i go to best buy - its kind of expense - about $8 for 3 tapes - but its close and I don't go through a ton of tapes
