Where should I visit?

My best friend and I are planning a huge road trip, and our main destination is Lake Louise. We are mostly going because it looks so fucking beautiful there, we just have to go see it for ourselves.

So like I said, this is a road trip. Its going to be happening in May of 09, or thats what we predict. I have no idea how long we are going to be on the road, but we are hoping up to 3 weeks (at the minimum!). Yeah, I said May of 09. We are planning wayyy in advance so that nothing can fuck this up.

For random and mostly obscure reasons we want to visit these places on the way (there or on the way home)..

Toronto

Chicago

Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron, etc.

The Mall of America

Lake Louise (Obviously)

Vancouver

Seattle

Portland

San Francisco

Utah!

Boulder

Why Im posting this is because we need YOUR help! Where else should we visit? What should we do when we get to these places? What are some exciting things youve done? Should we cross some places off our list? Etc.

Any advice from anyone who has done a trip like this would be awesome!

if you're going to san francisco you might as well get hyphy. and then go to lake tahoe. yea!

in my opinion, sorry to any portlanders, the trip would be better without portland. its over rated. unless you have anything specific you wanted to do there, i would spend more time at better places.

if you're after the more natural stuff, the west coast will be delightful. Cities like Portland are kind of bland when it comes to a full fledged road trip. While nice, there really isn't too much; the mountains and coast are generally whats best about the PNW (huge over simplification though).

You could go to Tahoe and maybe Yosemite (snow permitting) if you're heading to San Francisco. Could go to Crater Lake, Mt. Rainier, Yellowstone, other national parks.

Vancouver is sweet.

Depending on how you get up to Lake Louise, keep going north as well up to Jasper. The canadian rockies through there are fantastic, especially if you like hiking and climbing (weather can be shit though).

Maybe too ambitious but bowron lakes are fantastic as well.

yo my friends are doing the same thing same time next year. i say we meet up and well have a roadtrip party.

in seattle go to pike place market. there is nothing else like it. in sanfransisco go to alkatraz(sp?)

if your going to chicago, hit up lake geneva wisconsin on your way to mall of america, and myabe six flags in gurnee illinois, and then maybe wisconsin dells.

yeah definately the DELLS> ride the original wisconsin ducks too. Also when you're in the southwest be sure to go to a ghost town .

you should come to ottawa. we could jump on my neibours tramp, hit up my backyard rail and enjoy rain every day.

The Dells would be a lot of fun. If I'm around I'll join you for a day.

Hit up Eureka, California. It's one of the dopest towns I've been to.

Definitely keep us updated on your final plan. If you wouldn't mind and if the times work out, I would need some people to drive west with if we could meet up after you go to the Mall of America (depending if you want to go east or west from there).

Where are you coming from?

If Toronto is on the list i would suggest not continuing through canada to Lake Louise, the prairies (Winnipeg and Saskatchewan are really boring to drive through. I assume you are going to Calgary as well then on the way. although i do not know if the central northern states are all farmland as well..

come to barrie

its an hour north of toronto and you can stay in my house.... if my rents dont care

Well you could spend that $2-3000 in gas on a trip to Japan instead and actually visit somewhere awesome. It is cheap to visit there, expensive to live.

skip lake erie too. its a nice lake, but there really is nothing special about it.

yeah like said before, hit up alaska. it would be dope that time of year, melting water means sick streams and stuff.

I would cross off San Francisco personally

Utah seems boring in the summer, maybe Moab if you go 4x4ing or mtn biking

Go to:

Mt Hood (go skiing and camping)

Portland is cool if you go skateboarding, its worth checking out.

Glacier Park in NW Montana (sick as fuck) plus you can drive into Canada from there, very scenic, alot of wildlife.

Beartooth Pass on the Montana Wyoming border is a really cool drive, alot of camping spots

Blackfoot River near Missoula MT,floating trip on an intertube is a fucking blast.

Go fishing

Stay at some friends/relatives house

Yea sorry, alot of these places are in Montana, but that is what I know best :)

I dunno though, theres alot of shit to do. Find out if there are any big events on the way or something and check those out or something. See if there are any cool concerts that you want to see

go to boulder and yes i know its already on the list but go for sure and when you go stop and go to lunch at a place called illegal pete's and check out pearl street

hit up noah's ark and mount olympus in the wisconsin dells....and hit up cedar point amusement park in sandusky,Ohio

slc obviously just because of how many people there are here. huge scene and its all very well connected. not to mention mormons make crazy pets.

Don't go to Lake Louise. Boycott those RCR bastards who shut down our parks. But if you're in Banff definitely hitup Sunshine.

If you are going to Vancouver you should hop the ferry over to Vancouver Island to check it out. If you are into checking out the westcoast scene, Victoria would be a dope place to check out.

And you'll love driving through the rockies, its such a beautiful part of the world.

So are you planning to camp and sleep in the car during the journey, stay in hotels, or mad bum places to stay off of fellow nsers?

mt rushmore

grand canyon

compton

hawaii

tiajuana

cancun

europe

north pole

ns offices

boston

miami

new orleans

bermuda

alaska

rio de janero

great wall of china

old faithful

yeah this guy knows what's up. RCR is gayyy, never hitting up another RCR resort ever again. Sunshine ftw, ride the dive it's pretty sick.

Now this may be a far fetched assumption, but I dont think so: I dont think they were intending their destination (or one of them) to be the ski resort of Lake Louise, rather... the lake (go figure) and region itself.

I would go insane traveling with some people in here. Some really shitty suggestions. Some good ones, too, though.

i just posted a thread bout wat to do in toronto so u cud look there

i also happen to be a chicagoan so i cud tell u of things to do here.

cubs/sox games

jump into the lake at north avenue

kayak or canoe the river

for some reason im in a particuraly bland mood and i cant think of other things to do roght now

but just pm if u want more ideas or hav ne questions

ok just one thing, take a map and think about it if you wanna go from whistler to toronto then go back to usa, well either you really like driving or you never opened a map of your life, you will have to pretty much go trough the whole canada haha then if you wanna go back to west coast its gonna be sooooo long but wtv you know

this is gonna cost you a shitload. Also, people plan roadtrips all the time (myself included) and they never happen. Im hoping the best for you tho
