Yo, so hopefully coming to the US this northern winter to escape the sunshine of New Zealand. I'm not 100% sure though where the best place to ski for me is...I'm mainly into steep technical gnarlyness... With cliffs spines and hopefully some pow etc etc but i also want to get some spins sorted in the park (25 foot +), so any ideas on some good mountains?I'll be over around mid Jan and have to get back to uni by mid feb, I'm a student (no money) and the exchange rate ain't that good for me at the moment so i need somewhere where i can get a pass for under $500 US.
Cheers Heaps guys heres hoping for mad snow!

come to Canada, The American dollar is worth more than ours so at the moment a pass will be much cheaper here. Stay away from Whistler if your looking to save money, Try kicking horse, revelstoke, louise, sunshine, red, and many more that didnt come off the top of my head.

might be too late to get a pass anywhere for under 500...maybe breck and key but that's not exactly going to fulfill your need for steeps and whatnot

hype? please. there is WAY more of a "fun park vibe" out here than i ever experienced in all my years of skiing in the east. jesus.

also, you can get a pass to Keystone, Breck, Abasin with ten days at Vail and Beaver Creek for well under $500 here in colorado, so you ski for 5 or 6 days and you've gotten your money's worth.

summit county, colorado has the best pass deals in the western US. under 500 USD for unlimited breck/ keystone/a basin plus 10 days at vail/beaver creek. but there isnt too much in bounds technical terrain

Cool bean! You guys have been mad helpful! Going to talk to some friends heading over and see what plans they have!!!

Agreed. definitely summit county, you can find some pretty cheap places to crash too. That pass is an amazing deal, and even though in bounds isn't too technical, (I did find some pretty large cliffs at Beaver Creek in bounds) and if you head in to the sidecountry (not far out of bounds) you can find some fun skiing like the Y chutes etc..
