Where should i ski out west?

YES! my family finnaly decidede to take a vacation out west, whats the best time to go? I want to go to a moutain with intermediate slopes for my mom and sister, but easily asseible backcountry lines for me and my dad (nothing to insanely hard though) what mountain should i look into?
 
you should think about Snowmass Mt. in Aspen Colorado. That mountain is huge and has everything from easy stuff to hard stuff and even backcountry
 
i have not taken an avi course, but i do have equitment, i;ve had some backcountry experience in the east (if that counts) i summited and skiied mt. washington, and mt. mansfield, i have ice axes, crampons, packs all that, but i was really not wanted to go THAT far in the bc out west, cause i'm obviously not used to that much pow, i just meant a mountain with a lot of powder so i can hike a little and get in some smaller lines
 
your going out west, and going to a resort? are you serious? man, the best urban you will ever find is out west. deff spend your time urbaning man
 
Then I don't even know why your thinking of going into the backcountry. Take an Avy course at Mt. Washington before you go next year, or don't go backcountry at all. Believe me, you'll have plenty of terrain inbounds, way more than you'll be able to handle.

If by backcountry you mean hiking inbounds, then don't call it backcountry.

As far as mountains go I love Utah.
 
And if you do want to go into the backcountry, try BackTacks at Solitude. $150 per person, includes all equipment, 2 guides, lunch, and lift tickets. Good deal, you get to access kickass terrain, and you get some fucking awesome pizza.
 
i dont care if its not insane as long as your out of bounds. more avalanches occur on those "not isane" lines. that just goes to show theres no way you should be outside the ropes.
 
most deffinately haha. i know for a fact that there will be stuff that will scare the shit out of you. no need to go out of bounds when you cant conquer all the inbounds terrain.-that goes for me too, and even a lot of people who do ski out of bounds.

i know for a fact 99% of skiers would stand on top of some lines on fantasy ridge and shit their pants.
 
Anywhere in utah, colorado, california or BC. So places liek PC, aspen, whistler, any of the 13 or whatever in utah, mammoth, northstar. There's tons of others but thats a few.
 
check out jackson hole, they have amazing in bounds and amazing bc, but since your with your family, look into Salt lake, then you can ski alta, the bird, solitude, but take an avi course if your going BC, or buy a book they are really helpful
 
no.. i cant help but shake my head at people who go to park city, unless its for free.

Solitude is the least crowded mountain I've ever been to. I've parked first row, walked 10 ft to the lift, and click in 5 minutes later every single time ive been there, vacation weekends included. And I've actually never waited in a line there either, except for first chair on eagle. Thats why I love Solitude so much, besides the kickass terrain, untracked pow, and kickass people, who will back whatever you do/try.
 
go to hood or something. i've always dreamed of skiing hood in the summer. it reminds me of c.g and where he almost dead on dat big rock.. haha
 
if u want pow don't come to colorado go to utah or targhee and when i say utah i thinkjust go to several resorts like p.c. alta and brighton they're all soo close out there
 
If your going to Utah don't hit park city hit Solitude, Snowbasin, Alta, and Snowbird. Try to get someone to show you around Alta though. The others you can have a good time no matter if you know the terrain at all.
 
so you guys still didnt answer my question, i want to know if its possible to get high my own feces? and does it matter if you shit is like moochy or diaherra?
 
go to Apex major pow(at least there was when i went there)and then you wont have to go in the bc because its al over the mountain,super sick rail park and theres intermediate runs too
 
Alta, there is plenty of inbounds terrain that you hike and traverse to. Baldy Chutes, Devil's Castle, and Catherine's area have something of a backcountry feel while still being surveyed for avalanche danger by the ski patrol.
 
the PNW area has pretty sick terrain for beginning BC skiers.

WA has crystal & baker, I know for sure there are some good ones in montana (big sky or something like that).
 
haha for sure. take the family urbaning. they'll love it. get your powder and steeps on the east coast.
 
Don't go out west for the park dude, and if you are going for a park go to Park City or The Canyons. Most of the rest of Utah is dedicated to non-park activities. I guess Snowbird probably has a legit park too, but you might as well hit mineral basin.
 
no need to be an educated asshole, When he gets wherever hes going his idea of B/C will totally change, go to a sick mountian and you wont have to ski out of bounds at all.
 
I think this guy means he just wants to ski some powder and do some real skiing. Everything an east coast kid really wants to do.
