Where should i get my seasons pass?

So ill be at the U of U for the winter, and im having a real hard time deciding where to get a pass. ill be skiing at least 4 days a week, i am in search for powder most of all, not much of a park skier. i was leaning towards snowbird for the size and accessability to the terrain, but all i hear about the bird is that its too busy and gets tracked out fast. I like alta as well but have hear about alot of traverses, yuppy old locals (not saying this is true, i have just heard this). brighton seems pretty sick...I basically want to hear what you think is the best place to SPEND A SEASON, which to me is way way different than a weekend.
Hopefully i can get some honest, non-sarcastic answers, i have done quite a bit of researching on most of the resorts, and want to know what the locals think.

This is a slight stereotype but I don't mind saying it cause you can't go wrong with either.

Alta if you want less crowds

Snowbird if you want slightly better (steeper and longer) terrain

Both in my opinion crush Brighton, and truth be told either will present you the time of your life.

Pretty much nailed it. I chose Snowbird over Snowbird over Alta because of the quick access to tons of vert and tons of terrain. Brighton is fun but it just doesn't do it for me. Short steep shots that just leave you wanting more

the reason snowbird gets tracked out fast is because its awesome. Bottom line is that on a fresh pow day your really only going to get a few runs of straight fresh ie not crossing tracks, unless you time openings.
snowbird really is bomb though if you want to charge vertical and ski fast and there are lots of terrain features also.
Alta is also great for a whole host of other reasons.
But having spent multiple seasons at each resort the vibe Im getting is that snowbird will be the most bang for your buck

Yeah I'd go with Snowbird especially because you might meet some snowboarder friends you want to shred with

alright cool, thanks guys. the bird was what i thought was my best choice, and im glad i got some support for it too. looks like ill be at snowbird this winter! cant wait

wait a season is different than a weekend? what's a season then, is it like 3 weekends??

sorry was that sarcastic?

yes i was being sarcastic about a season being longer than a weekend.
so another question. how bad are the crowds at the bird? like 5-10 min wait or what? i dont think anyone knows what a liftline is at my home mtn in WA, so any wait is gonna be an adjustment.
also, whats it like on weekdays? crowd wise

its not crowded till it snows, then there is a hour traffic jam going up to the mountain, the road closes, and its tracked by 10. But yes, please stay away from brighton it is terrible, noone should ever ride there, especially on pow days...

Haha yeah you will be shitting your pants if you are used to Mission Ridge. The worst part is the drive up there after a big storm. There is a 9 mile long parking lot all the way up the valley because there is only one road that gets to Snowbird and Alta, so you have to get up retartedly early in the morning. You will definitely notice the amount of people at Snowbird or Alta, but you really can't go wrong with either. It is worth it.

snowbird is whats up, youll be stoked on it. but one thing not mentioned that i really like about the bird is that after all the other mountains close, they're still open, even if theyre only open weekends youre stoked to still be on snow, last day this summer was june 20th

I am just going to take the hate and come out and say it. Snowbird can be a terrible time. Brighton is always a good time.

sooooo here is what im getting from this. snowbird and alta have the best terrain, but its a bitch to get up there when there is new snow, you might not even get fresh turns after a painful trip to get there, but its awesome and the best....o and its crowded. god damn it. its gonna be a bitch to actually make up my mind.. i dont wanna drop $700 to be pissed waiting in lift lines and traffic jams. but i feel like everyone suggests getting a pass there. or is all the bullshit completely outweighed by the skiing (which is what i am hoping for)

ya its crowded, but people blow it completely out of proportion. Its just like trying to shred a pow day at jackson or squaw, its like one of the best 3 resorts in the country in my opinion. Theres a reason why the who's who of people ride there year in and year out and live at the bottom of little cottonwood canyon.

I got a pass at PC because I train and ride for a freeride team up there. And I am planning on getting a pass to The Canyons for some all mountain ripping. I wish I had the money to get one at brighton :(

I've heard great things, but its expensive.

I have PC and Alta

PC for park, obviously.

Alta because i get a cheap pass and love the terrain.

I have PC and Snowbird. PC for the ill park and Snowbird for the ill terrain plus most of my friends snowboard.
BTW the Big Cottonwood resorts can be just as much of a bitch to get to on powder days especially since they're farther up the canyon.

You wont be disappointed with alta, the bird, or brighton. But i think youll be way more stoked on lil cottonwood.

ha, I used to have the same anxiety you did. Every resort is fun. If you dont like the Bird, you can always get a different pass next season. I would say just get a pass where your friends are going.

well im only gonna be there this winter, im doing a student exchange thing from washington state so i dont know a single person in utah, so im kinda trying to get a pass to the best place for me, and somewhere that alot of students go to

Lil cottonwood i where alta and the bird are. I think it has better terrain, longer slopes. Ima alta snob though so there is some bias. But then again, alta/the bird is consistently ranked in the top resorts in the nation.
