Where on the ski?

Where on your skis do you like to mount your bindings? More front, more back, or exact middle, or whatever line is shown on the ski?

jesus christ, hahahahahahahahahaahahhahahaahaaa, ok u mount them where u would like, like if ur gonna be doing a lot of switch skiing, mount them exact center or even a little forward, but mounting them back isnt really gonna help much for anything

can i mount you in the middle?

mounting in the middle will help with balancing on rails..and mounting a bit back i think will help in powder but i don't think will make much difference!

If you mount anywhere but the reccomended mounting point your carving will be fucked up for both regular and switch riding, since they won't be centred onthe waist any more, so think about that. If you ski a lot of powder mount them backa bit, otherwise go on the line.

i personally like to mount in the middle but its all a opinion

hoked on foniks wurked fur me.kant u tel?

You should mount your skis according to the manufacturer's suggestion: i.e. have the shop do it (which will place the centre of the boot on the 'boot centre' mark on the ski.

OK? Cause there's a lot of different opinions on where the bindings should be. I was just asking what your preferance was.

Where are your bindings on your skis?

I've played around on lots of different skis with bindings mounted in all kinds a places. I've never found a ski to ride 'better' when It's mounted in a spot other than where it should be. The only time that I felt there was an advantage is when I rode a pair of pocket rockets mounted a whopping 1.5cms back in about 38' of day old powder at Mach 50. My .02cents :)

Ski suggestions are retared. They are determined by a bunch of suites, except for on Line and Armada skis. Mount them forward of the line by about 1.5 inches. Usually this is the perfect spot. Armadas and Line skis are perfect however for mounting positions.

It does NOT fuck up carving by mounting them forward, it just changes the radius, no big deal. you wont even know if you never rode them when they were mounted where they are recommended to be mounted.

The 'bunch of suits' you speak derisively of tend to be engineers who mathematically design a ski better than any of us can by 'feel'

Nine milla- I bet anyone with any sort of ability would notice if you mount a binding 1.5 inches from where you're supposed to.

90% of the people who try and mount their own skis fuck it up anyway, I do, I know that.....it's imposible to be 'right on' with your measurements. Take them in and have them mounted and save yourself the agony.

No wonder some of you pre-release a binding so much, they probably aren't mounted correctly.

My shop still mounts them, but they mount them where you want them to be mounted.

As far as noticing the difference, yes, you will notice the difference if you move it from normal to center, but it takes about 3 hoursto adjust completely.

If you neevr had them mounted at a normal position, you wouldnt knwo the difference would you?

i Work at a ski shop and we mount everything by the manufacture unless requested otherwise.

Since i work at a shop i have played around with all dif mounting pos.

On all mtn or carving skis mount where the manufacture sugests.

Powder skis if being used for powder it depends on the ski but usually either where the manufacture suggests or up to 2 cm back.

Park skis if it your only pair and your using them for everything then go manufacture if not get out a tape measure and measure the ski tip to tail and mark the center point and dont mount in front of that.

I have tried everything from center to manufacture which can be as great as 7 or 8 cm more in front.

I have found that what works best for me is 3 to 4 cm more in the tip than in the tail.

Find what you like it might take some experimenting and dont worry you can mount a ski 5 or 6 times without damaging the integrity of the ski.

It makes a huge difference where you mount your bindings...the same ski can ski 2 complete different ways just because of where the are mounted and feel completely different as well.

I mounted my Dragons, but then again, anyone who rides tele generally knows how to mount skis (we use a different system than alpine, although on twins, the boot centre mark works exceptionally well).

How should scrach fs be mounted for park anf pipe? Looks like at least Boyd had mounted them much forvard from those recommendation lines.

on my atomics they are mounted a little bit forward, wich allows you to get more forward pressure and rip fat arcs on the groomers.

on my pow airs i have a plate on the binding where i can adjust where the binding sits on the ski. i move em back a tad bit from center for pow days and in the center for ridin all round the mtn.

haha nine milla knows how to ski, and seriously its not gonna be that big of a deal., if your gonna be skiing alot of powder big mountain, a little back from center, park mount them center, if you wanna be like jon mount them forward. just find your happy place. your shop should be happy to mount them wherever, and if they arent they suck. its not gonna affect it that much, it may take a bit of getting used to, like any new ski does, but after that you'll still carve well and stuff, it depends on what you want to do sometimes it will improve the skis performance by mounting forward, and other times it will hurt it.

oh hey steeb, i've just been bustin out large. its kinda hard not to with a skateboard as big as mine

i would put them like 2cm-4cm back on center line.... my dad mounts all my shit for me and that is what he does.... i wouldn't mount them ahead of center. my personal opinion i mean more behinde you then in front now that is wack.
