hey im thinking of moving somewhere sometime in the next 2 years, just for like 6 months or so just cause i really wanna go somewhere new and different. im sure alot of people will say breck or something in summit county, but i really dont like any of summit county, its an awesome place, but i just cant stand the people, it seems like the reason half the people move there is so they can smoke weed and drink constantly, not trying to be mean, but thats just not me. its just a wierd vibe to me, like if you arent a huge stoner, you dont fit in at all. i want to find a place with all different types of people.ive been to park city and salt lake in the summer, that seems ok, but id really have to see what its like in the winter to be convinced.it doesnt have to be in the u.s. but i couldnt go somewhere where nobody speaks english or something like that, like maybe new zealand? canada? mammoth? utah? i dont know. im not only in it for the skiing, like half skiing, and half the overall experience.
if anyone could give me some advice that would be awesome!

wow man you gotta narrow it down at least a little bit! there is hundreds of places you could go for sick shredding. I live in Bozeman, MT and i love it. I can be out of my bed and on the chair in 25 minutes. The best snow ever too. There is always Summit county, SLC, Park City, Jackson/Targhee, Bellingham, Vancouver, Bend, Tahoe.. You gotta travel and look for yourself homie!

whistler if you have the money. But Tahoe is super chill. We have tons of mountains great weather and good snow. Tahoe just has a cool vibe going to its not all stoners so you can deff fit in and it has that small town feel once you get to know the locals, and for the most part they are super nice. Dillon CO is cool to but like it can be expensive to.

Try living in like Truckee. Right by Tahoe and then you can ski all the resorts at Tahoe and then you can get to Mammoth in like 2.5 hours.

Dude, the Northwest is the place to be... Over 400 inches annually and people there are so chill.. Also sort of a medium/ small town vibes

My family has a cabin in Whistler, and we live in North Vancouver.

I can say from some experience that Whistler is an awesome place to live for skiing, but it's SUPER expensive. When we're up there we eat at home.. haha.

I think for the complete winter ski experience it would be awesome to live in Salt Lake City, or Vernon BC.

if u decide to move in the US, tahoe could be good, but if you are planning to travel more, Innsbruck in austria is amazing, really nice place to live, lot of young people, and many resorts around, plus, it´s the alps, and you have switzerland in a few hours, france, italy...

Dude I've been to 43 of the states. My favorite places is BEND, OR.

Bend is a town of about 80,000, has Mt. Bachelor and the whole cascade range litterally overlooking the town and about a 20 min drive to the lifts. The town itself is AMAZING, its has yuppies, hippies, rednecks, and a bunch of outdoor oriented cool ass people. Deschutes Brewery is right down town, and there's a half way descent nightlife. Bend is high desert, and being in the rain shadow of the Cascades gets 300 days of sun a year. Bachelor gets dumped on, 350+ a year, and most of the time it is pretty good snow, being on the the eastern edge of the Cascade range the water content is low for a west coast mountain. Bachelor also has the best lift system in the US (ski mag), with the ability to move 10,000+ people an hour. They also put together a great park. It is definetly a ski town, but has tons of other stuff to do all year round. Smith Rocks, a rock climbing mecca is about 30 min away, there's world class fly fishing, 26 golf courses within an hour and more being added every year, great bass fishing at prineville res. I caught an 8 lber there on my one and only day there. Great Mountain biking and horseback riding trails. Some fun rafting trips. An indian casino about an hour away. Amazing Mule Deer, Elk, Phesant, Dove, Quail, and Antelope hunting all around. Tons of 4 wheeling and dirt biking. And a river where days of catching 100+ smallmouth bass are common, about 2 hours away.

While living in Jackson Hole, or Salt Lake will provide you with epic days, so will Bachelor, and the town of Bend is just hard to get away from. Guarantee you'll love it, there's a reason that the town went from 30,000 in the mid-90's to about 80,000 and growing.

well theres aways Salt Lake...and Orgeon

i say one of those two...

im goin to Cali though...nuttin compares

Don't be scared of heading over to europe because of the language barrier. You will find that in many of the best places english is the common language due to the cosmpolitan nature of the people there.

My recommendations, in no particular order, for europe are as follows...

Engelberg, Ch (Switzerland): really small town vibe- super chilled and the people that live there are true skiers- lots of scandinavians... awesome big mountain skiing, no park and not much crazy nightlife though...

Verbier, Ch: A really good all around option this- great big mountain, decent park, big nightlife, people from all over- lots of brits, scandis, aussies etc. Only downside is expense- $$$

Val d'Isere/Tignes, France: Pretty much the same deal as Verbier, except more snow-sure. Great all-around skiing and nighlife but again, $$$$. Tignes is cheaper to live in , but less happening.

Mayrhofen, Austria: Really good all-around experience, good skiing and more park-orientated- includes the Hintertux glacier park in the autumn. Again, very cosmpolitan town and perhaps cheaper than some of the others.

Innsbruck, Austrai: More of an actual town than the others which are more like resorts. Has access to some great skiing at a load of places around, plus if you prefer the bigger town vibe then this would suit you.

Chamonix, France: Cham has a vibe quite unlike anywhere else in the Alps- here is the home of really hardcore skiers. Lots of testosterone, lots of scandis, lots of beards, lots of people who pretend to be hardcore but actually aren't. It's a pretty intense atmosphere but it could be for you, plus it's a pretty big place...

pm me if you got any questions...

hahahaha yah, consider my character built
im in the same position though...im moving out over christmas break after i graduate
my top 3 choices right now are the CO area, then Jackson, then the Snoqualmie area in WA

The best place to live in europe are Val d`Isere, Tignes, avoriaz and "les deux alpes" has a bery good snowpark in summer.

Austria alsois very ice but is cheaper like switzerland.

But i think that best place to live is Tahoe!!!

I think California would be good, or one of the resorts in the BC interior, like Red Mountain- cheaper than Whistler, tons of powder and not as packed.

lake tahoe. i go thier everysummer, ive been to sugar bowl, and im going to heavenly. and so i know from experience its sick, but i think is probabley better in the summer than in the winter, especially if you have a boat =)
taos NM is well of the betten trail for most skiers, but you should maybe consider it. the snow sometimes isnt the best, but when it does snow, the snow is super ligh and nice. the town is small, and everyone thier skis. there are some freestyle skiers, too. they are just opening it to boarders, so im shure thier park will be alot better this year. check it out! if your into freeride, it legit too. the salomon extreme skiing comp was held there last year, and ther is a nice whitecap mountain you can hike, with a STEEP grade, so ya...
hope that helps, and as always, correct me if im wrong!

Bend or PDX. Bend probably has the wicked-est landscape in the lower 48 states, and I judge all towns by the quality of their beer (Deschutes Brew).
If you want some small ski town, there's the Summit County scene, but you don't like that, so how about SLC, or Vail, or Telluride / Durango? South Lake Tahoe / Truckee / Reno? Mammoth or Bishop, CA. . . the list goes on and on.

Yes Tahoe is awesome year round and you can get to San Francisco really quick. There's a ton of nightlife at Tahoe if you're looking for some of that too. There's way better places in Tahoe thna the two he mentioned though. Squaw is super great, I know Rose isn't crowded and has some pretty steep inbounds, Sierra-at-Tahoe is cool, Kirkwood is super killer for freeride, and Alpine Meadows is good for pow. I'm gonna have to correct you a little bit about the summer though. There's a bunch to do, boating though has never been that great for me on that lake, really cold, supper choppy, like 3, cometimes 4 foot waves. Start DH mountain biking and buy a pass to Northstar, you'll have a bunch of fun for sure. I've heard Taos is cool and nice and steep.

Biggest thing is what you are actually looking to achieve. if it's just short term and for bumming purposes, or if it's more for long-term settling and actually living there type purposes.
