Where does Candide mount his skis

Just picked up a pair of 19/20 Candide 3.0's and am wondering how many centimeters back Candide mounts them. The recommended mount is like 5 centimeters back and that seems insane for a freestyle ski. I want to mount them where Candide designed the ski to be ridden at.

I have my 4.0s at -2 and they ski like a dream

For context I have the 2013 4.0s which are basically the current 5.0 without camber

Pretty sure all the current CT skis have the "Candide" line which is actually where he skis them, according to Faction. The engineers said his preferred mount point always ended up being the narrowest point of the sidecut, so they just made that the standard "Candide" line.

(They talk about it around minute 29 on this pod)

Based on the faction guys' interview on blister podcast, candide apparently mounts all his skis on the narrowest point of the ski. I would guess that's max -5 from the true center but go grab a ruler and figure it out for good

To echo what some have said, mount at the Candide line or slightly up from it and call it a day. If you expect you won’t be absolutely ripping chamonix every day, and will instead be hiking rails in the east, mount right between the Candide line and the center line, but I truthfully would not creep too much closer to center.

I’m on a pair of last year’s 2.0’s. They’re probably +1 from Candide line and ride perfectly. I like riding rails, but like you, want to ski like Candide (which I of course do a pretty bad job of, but I like knowing the planks are mounted near where he would supposedly ski them).

Loling. He rides at the Candide line... seems self explanatory. Also -5 back for a freestyle ski is by no means “insane,” because he’s not skiing switch nearly as much as he is forward. -5 gives a good balance between float, the ability to push the ski, and balance in the air.
