Where do you think the best place to ski on the east coast is?

Im going to take a ski trip this winter on the east coast I normally go to stowe and Jay but just wanted to hear some other choices.

I think you got it nailed man, those are pretty damn legit east coast mountains. Maybe try something in maine like sugarloaf or sunday river, or if you want backwoods type stuff saddleback. Some crazy stuff in NH too. I definitely wouldn't go south of VT/NH/ME.

+1 for sugarloaf. I ski there since its close to my college, and love it. It has great terrain, good snowfall, and the park gets better every year. it was pretty sick this year.

please dont drive to PA when you could be up in VT/NH....you will regret every minute of it
Boulder park is good for PA standards....which really isnt shit.....

idk you you plan on driving or flying but if you are flying you could literally fly into dever in probally around 3 hours and have much better skiing. Also, if you booked flights now or even in the next next moth or two theyd probally be around 200 dollars... thats how i personally look at it why drive ten hours when you could fly three. then again i dont know where you live

Hows boulder? I've heard good things about it. Whats the set up like / whats the biggest jump there? I live in NY so it would be live 3 hrs. to drive there but my grandmom lives halfway so it is defiantly doable. Is it worth the drive?

I normally ski at Mt. Creek so if anyone has been to both parks could you tell me which you think is better.

Big Boulder is the most overrated park ever. Ive never been impressed when Ive gone there. Bear Creek and Camelback are both better.

Every time i go in mid january half the mountain is closed and all the snow is melting damnit.

Sunday River up in maine has some good trails and isn't icy like most other places. Lollapalooza is sweet to bomb.

Check out ski roundtop in PA which is sometimes called "the aspen of the east".

Shit I didn't check my mail haha

And if you are into cliffs, Platekill is nice for that, but they have no park at all, but I would recommend staying out of NY (Except to fly into maybe)

Yea i mean im from Pennsylvania and ski 7 springs (imo the best parks in pa but thats just me) Anyway i like Killington alot. It is pretty much the biggest place youll find in the east...or at least one of the biggest, and they have some nice parks like mouse run, the stash, and Dream maker. When i was there we got a ton of snow so tree skiing was awesome

haha i guess i should have put a (10) after recommending roundtop but i thought referring to it as "the aspen of the east" was enough to show my sarcasm.

sorry! didnt mean to jump on ya like that.....i just have heard some people honestly thinking PA parks are up to par with VT/NH

If you are in PA (by no means come to PA just to ski) check out camelback, boulder, seven springs, blue mountain.

Bad advice right here, trust me I've been skiing and drinking on the east coast for a few years here. Well it's not bad advice just kinda skewed. If you go to mad river the skiing is good, but when your done you should be drinking the magic hat that they brew specifically for MRG....single chair ale is the shit.

Long trail is right down the road from killington so it's kinda out of the way from MRG, but they do have bitchin food and beer so check it out if you are skiing killington.

Sorry not trying to bag on ya but you could be doing it better. Besides Sugarbush beats the hell out of MRG anyway in my opinion. The ski patrol are nazis at MRG.

he speaks the truth. can't wait until they have that on tap here at bear again. at least they better.

I almost had to choke a bitch when I saw it on the menu last time I was there, I promptly ordered one and the little girl said oh sorry we don't have that any more. As a beer guy like yourself there is nothing that pisses me off more than a place that advertises beer that they don't have.

Don't tease me man, are they really gonna get this back???? I usually get at least two growlers of it when I make a stop at the brewery in burlington. It's a fantastic tasting and very smooth ale indeed.

Last I heard they should be. I hope they get the giant Mad Elf bottles back too. I'll check next time I see the manager guy.

Beer discussion-thread hijacking is awesome by the way.

aahhhh this thread was asking to be hijacked, I mean OP posted argueably two of the best east coast ski resorts right in the first post. Seriously if you told me to pick my three favorite east coast resorts Jay and Stowe would probably be two of them. Saddleback is worth a shot just cause I've never been there and they opened a huuuuuge ass glade last year. It's on the list for next year I think. Hell maybe this year depending on what kind of december maine has.

alright ya got me....I would never actually choke a bitch or even say anything like that to a woman.

Although when you have one of my all time favorite beers listed on your menu, yet can't deliver when I order one, my blood boils. Your right though, the waitress wouldn't even have been able to tell you I was pissed. It's pretty fucked up though to advertise a beer that is rarely even ever for sale outside of the state of vermont, and then run out but leave it on your menu.

Sugarloaf. It has the only lift accessible terrain above tree line in the east coast and it has 2800 vertical feet. If you go on a week day, you can ski some of the best terrain in the east with no lines. their parks are real fun. It also has a lot of bars and a good night life right on the mountain.

I like sugarloaf and would also advise it as a good place to go. Just call ahead if your really set on the snowfields as I've been there quite a few times when they were closed due to lack of snow up there to cover the rocks. The king pine lift always rocks though.

Actually my icon < is me at sugarloaf in a costume in the woods.

ya king pine is prime. you get access to the best trails with the shortest line. the snowfileds are closed more often than they are open, but if you get the chance to ski them on a powder day, you are guaranteed some of the best runs of the season.

and thats a quality costume you got there. did you get a free ticket?

used it two years in a row on easter for yes free tickets. I don't think they offer that deal anymore though since they were bought.
