Where did everyone go?

Maybe this is just a stupid question but i recently started trying to be more active again and i noticed how theirs a lot less people online when i log on compared to three or four years ago. Just less people in the off season?? I had an account when i was 14 and use to post everyday and there was so many people always. Sadly i lost that account and couldn't find it so i gave up and then made this account, on the bright side i no longer have any of the cringey 14 year old me posts on my profile anymore however it sucks losing all of the karma and other stuff.

Pretty much since ive been gone im wondering what has happened on the sight apart from the obvious? last time i was super active was probably the 15/16 season.

We killed off NSG for the most part, so this summer was radically more dead than any point in history.

SG has been improving a ton because of that, so expect activity to really start picking up starting now and over the next few months as people actually start skiing again.

I mean we didn't get rid of it, we just cracked the fuck down. NSG got totally out of fucking control. I mean it was funny in that 4chan sort of way, but the trolling just got tiresome, stopped having any sort of creativity and spilled into every corner of the site.

We kept meeting actual young skiers skiers who had checked out the site, but hated the shit posting trolls of NSG who ruined every conversation they wanted to have about skiing.

It it was a super hard decision, but the DNA of Newschoolers is skiing, not a shitty 4chan wannabe.

The main question is how much activity we start to see in all the skiing parts of the site. They picked up quite a bit last year, but that was too early.

This site literally managed to turn away all the actual 14 year old skiers wanting to talk about skiing. Perfectly executed by a medium sized group of college age and older trolls who just did fucked up shit in NSG.

I mean dude don't get me wrong, trolling made NS what it was. It just drove off a cliff a few years ago, and the trolls all turned from really fucking entertaining to downright shitheads.

Back in my day, creative trolling actually fucking meant something.

I mean that shit was legendary...

it just went went way too far. People went from pee in her butt as a joke to death/rape threats via PM to pink names all of a sudden. Public trolling went from hilarious jokes to saying people should kill them selves, and amazing pro skiers who died deserved it.

At a certain point, you just put your foot down and end it.

Darn..........I must just be at some sort of advanced age here. WTF is NSG? All I found was Nuclear Suppliers Group. Somehow that still makes no sense to me.

Sounds accurate. :)

NSG brought people to NS, didn't know that was a bad thing. RIP to the days of having hundreds of members online

NSG brought the numbers, but the quality went to shit.

The funny thing though is that even back when I joined in 2005, half of NSG was talk about how it was all going to hell and should be deleted. Then there were a few years that were pretty consistently funny, and then came a sharp nose dive into the bullshit. By that point I'd agree that it was time to let it go.

Even looking back on this post now the traffic has gone up a ton, no longer 30 people on. I guess that's how skiing works though lol seasons
