Hey Nik I've heard MSU is cool and from the limited time I've spen there, Bozeman looks about as good as it gets in terms of ski towns with Big Sky and Bridger. My dad went to MSU undergrad back in the '70's.

I'm going to either the University of Washington or else Western Washington University in Bellingham so I can ski Mt. Baker and Whistler whenever I want! hehe... that and then maybe transfer to CU in a year..

Man everybody is coming to CU and other places in Colorado for college. I think I am the only one who is actually somewhat looking forward to leaving CO for college on the east coast.

I'm going to Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand, skiing at Cardrona and Treble Cone

Is college cheap for americans to go to a canadain college, because of the exchange rate?

I go to a community college in Ottawa. Tution is like $1300 x2 semmesters, and books will usually run you like $500, but I don't usually buy all the books, because I'm cheap and $500 is a lot of money.

The Universities cost around $4000 - $8000 for the year depending on what program and where, but usually closer to $4000, and books are only like $200 more than college, but if you go to University I suggest you actually buy the books. I live at home so I couldn't really tell you about rez, but if my memory serves me correctly my friends were generally paying $400 - $500 / month.

All prices in Cnd dollars.

i checked out CMC in steamboat one weekend and got really drunk with alot of kids who go there, its pretty phat, so i might go there and CU is the shit, i've been to couple of their parties and it was so fucking cool.......2 more years

powder princess, you go to uw as in WI? I live in madison too, and will be going to uw next year, where do you ski?

D

not to take anything away from you guys who want to go to Middlebury, but don't get too excited about middleburys 'own' mountain. while technically the college owns it, it is public, and one of the shittiest mountains around. It's tiny, has no terrain park, and only like 3 chairs...all low speed doubles. If you went to middlebury college you'd want to ski somewhere else.....not to mention that its like an impossible school to get into...last year they turned away like 10 kids with perfect 1600 SAT scores....

Pretty sure Brooke was talking about UW as in U of WA. Anyways, I'm leaning towards taking a year off after I graduate ('02) to just ski and live life for a while but that'll make it real hard to go back. So I'm looking at Sierra Nevada College in Tahoe, MSU bozeman, CU Boulder, CMC, and U of Nevada Reno. woah that's a lot. There's a lot of choices you have to make senior year. This sucks. All I want to do is ski, and maybe make a little $

I am a GIRL!!!
don't be fooled by the name

I'm going to MCAD, I'm pretty much a in already. Since I have 1 film contract set and another in the works (for all you MN guys it's Target Market!!) and videos, and shorts. Plus about 4 letters of recomendation. MCAD stands for Minneapolis College of Art and Design. I'm going to study film and minor in either sculpture or interactive media.

john, the closest little piece of shit place to boston is Blue Hills, however I strongly suggest u do not go there as the crappiness of it will just make u sick... further away is wachusset, again do not go there... SO basically just ski vermont

middlebury - 1200 on SATs should get you in BUT you need a GREAT track record as well. they don't way so heavily on SATs as they do high school grades and extra ciriculars. student goverment is a great plus (for any school). the middlebury snow bowl (college's ski area) is really small and is proably in another town for all i know. it takes around 20 min to a half an hour just to get there from middlebury (the town)!

boston college - almost same rank as middlebury but admissions are different. i'm not so sure about this one. i was looking at northeastern cause they have a great PT program. boston is the most wonderful city! there's so much to do and it's not as big as NYC. but truely, boston has no mountains. wachusett is a hill. wachusett has 100% of their terrain open at night which is cool but...if you're a skier you'll wish you had lots of money and a car to travel up to vermont every weekend.

university of vermont - if my mum didn't live right across the street, this would be my school. great size. great reputation. wonderful programs. near all the skiing. ski team is top in the country. a lot of jibbers in the area. and ski companies. rossingnol, line, dynastar. burton snowboards is based out of burlington - they have good jobs for college students. the music scene rocks! burlington is a GREAT city! montreal is a little less than 2 hours away. something around a C average to get in.

canada is a great place for school too. it costs a lot less than the US. mcgill is like harvard but costs so so so much less.

considering i don't have any money my top choice for school(CU boulder) is out unless they give me lots of money. i think i'll be heading to CMC or plymouth state (in the white mountains in NH, by mt washington) this next fall. i hope to transfer somewhere else though. who else was thinking of CMC? does anyone know the northern california area? what schools are up by tahoe?

I posted that info under the 'colleges by tahoe, mammoth, snow summit' thread, but I'll run over it quickly again. sierra nevada college is in incline village on the lake (talk to VC). U of Nevada Reno is in Reno, half hour from mt. rose, hour or so from squaw/alpine. sac state in sacramento, hour-hour and a half from donner summit areas. UC Davis, bout an hour and a half. good luck

Sierra Nevada College definately rocks. I'm half an hour from alpine meadows and squaw. fifteen from northstar and some of the most legendary backcounry out there.

Come to New Zealand you guys, it'd be so hell cheap for you coz our dollar is worth 40 cents US, pretty rad ay, so skiing would be hell cheap too, and ski gear, and you can all come crash at my pad too, yeah, mega New Zealand road trip, bring it on, except for cypress1080, he can sleep outside coz he's mean.

university of montana in missoula. probably one of the best college towns around. it was rated best town in the outdoors a few months ago. and skiing is 20 minutes away with hella steeps and 300 inches of snow a year. check it out for sure

U of M is pretty cool, but i've got to say that MSU is on of the best college towns ever. especially for skiing. there is bridger and big sky really close, and on top of it all they are a really good school education wise. hey, might as well get an education if you are paying, right?

I'm promoting my site, click please.

I wouldn't go to notre dame for the skiing, but that's one school I'd love to go to if I didn't have to ski. It's such a cool school. About impossible to get into now though. Maybe I'll go to grad school there after I get my skiing fix for a couple seasons
