When you go on a ski vacation?

Stupid question but wondering what most people do. When you go out west for a ski trip and have to rent a car. Do you take the risk that there won't be a snowstorm and rent a compact size car or do you go for the SUV w/ 4 wheel-drive? THe SUV rentals are killer for 1 week it costs almost as much as my entire trip!!
 
It depends on where you live. I live in Iowa and we pretty much drive out there every year in our suburban. It seems like every trip there is a snowstorm on our way past denver. So yes I would suggest an SUV, but if your low on cash, then a car with AWD or RWD will be just fine too.
 
You mean a car with AWD or FWD right lol. RWD is terrible for snow because you have no weight over the back so yo u have less traction. It is better for drifting though :P
