When will skiing ge at the same level as snowboarding?

I already no skiers are better at some things than boarders but, when will there be skiers who truely just film not co-own companys and all that jazz but just truely could hit urb and be satisfied, the new mack dawg triler just shows how far behind skiing is from boarding, the angles and the work put in to that vid are probboly 10 times what any ski vid has ever had.

snowboarding has more publicitly than skiing so maybe bigger budgets for movies and things
 
yea and thats why skiers are going higher out of the pipe and landing 1440's and 1620's ats all about how much more money is in the movie franchises warren miller is the only one that probably has as high of a budget as a snowboard movie
 
More snowboarders = more money going to snowboard companies

more money in snowboard companies = more money they can supply film companies when they sponsor them

more money in films = better films, its that simple.
 
hurray for people who understand trickle down economics!

if more of the older generation of skiers watched newschool ski movies, the budget would be much higher too, but alas, they dont, they dont really go out of their way to atleast.
 
right on. at my local hill all the people snowboard and that is the case for alot of MN. plus even if they arnt actually hard core they will buy a board to say I have a burton board but that isnt the case with skis people will just rent. less money, quality of movies go down. I do however think there are plenty of good ski movies even if they dont have the budget of warren miller. take booter crunk, from rage films the budget couldnt have been much but it was a great movie.
 
snowboarding movies are ahead for sure. But skiing in general (tricks and all) is a little level over snowboard I think. Skiers are going so huge and coming with a lot of new tricks it's just crazy. The progression of freestyle skiing is so fast that even if snowboarders are ahead of skiers for now, they won't be ahead for very long.
 
i still think the attitude of snowboarding is way ahead of skiing. and rail tricks. but yeah...more snowboarders blah blah blag its been covered
 
I think we should just wait and see what Iberg does with "Idea". Cuz that is going to be a fucking sick movie. If those guys dont step it up, then you all can bitch and complain some more.
 
already passed my man.......already passed snowboarding stopped progressing A LONG time ago.
 
Skiing is at the same level. The filmmakers with true talent just don't get the money they deserve, and the companies with money all make the same video style. Support the am and small, and the big guys will have to change to keep pace.
 
In snowboarding they style their movies after skateboarding way more then we do. Comanies in snowboarding usually get a group of filmers to follow just their riders and make the best movie they can. That was a sick movie this year and it was just the forum team. Think of session 1242 pep had a groundbreaking segment and the rest was just as good for the time. If oakley paid to make a movie of just their own riders now it would be amazing.

Snowboarders are way ahead of us on rails but i think we are ahead in the air.

If Ostness had the funding that MDP or Absinthe had, then ski films would be just as good (or better, since I'm speaking of Ostness here)
 
The amount of snowboarders on the hill that have style, versus the amount of skiers on the hill with style... face it, many newschool skiers are goons.
 
I agree man, i think that ski companies and the pros need to step up and get the sport into the spotlight. Yeah I hate where tanner is trying to take the sport i don't hate big mountain but it is not practical to try to have the sport go there when how many of us can just go heli skiing whenever we want.
 
tanner is skiing POWDER. you don't need a heli to go ski powder. hell, the majority of his pow shots are pillow lines, tree skiing, and booters... all three of which could be a daily routine for any west coast skier with a half decent resort close by and the slightest bit of motivation...
 
How about the number of skiers on a mountain like squaw that have style somewhere outside the park. It is not even close, in that area skiing completely dominates snowboarding.

As for whether more snowboarders have style in the park, maybe they do, I really could care less. There are more of us that kill it on the mountain, and that is what counts.
 
snowboarders seem to have reached the peak of the stuff they can do on a snowboard. like what they are doing right now is the limit as to what is physically possible on a snowboard.

with skis i think, so much more is possible just because of the physics of it. and thats why our tricks are at/will be a higher level than boarders.
 
skiiers still kinda have that reputation for being racers and i guess gapers but it progressing i mean like 10 years ago some moutians wouldnt even let skiiers in the park

so i guess skiing just needs some time to progress
 
dude park and urb isnt all that you can do skiing. let tanner do what he loves and film what he loves doing and stop moaning about it, go pick up someone else's movie if you don't like it.

i've seen lights trucked out a long ways. i would be very surprised is that is completely natural. if it is cool, but does anyoen know. is that just an effect you can do or something?
 
watch PNW next year. its all filmed in whistler backcountry and we had the sickests season ever. It was a race on sunny days against snowboard crews to get to the good spots. we have the lowest budget out of any pro level movie and we just put in more effort to make a movie with natural hits and backcountry jibs.
 
skiers are more spectacular as snowboarders, no way, but snowboarders make it to look easy and you think it´s their life and the fullfillness of all their dreams.
